It's not that complicated. The original is just a lot better. The beat knocks harder and the rhymes have more energy in them.
If I remember right, the remake has Nas going 'this verse is 10 years old!' in the chorus or some shit and the beat is considerably tamer. He should've let Kamakaze use the track when they recorded it instead of being a bitch about the situation.

Pretty sure the beat is the same exact thing. The OG just sounds rawer or whatever, because it was probably recorded in a fucking den of thieves in Queensbridge. You're right that it's not complicated though. Nas' verses are way better. Hence, so is the new version.

Ka has grown on me. Cormega has a herky jerky flow, no real style, and a voice that sounds out of place in music, period.
