That sucks man. Raymond is the Portishead sample jack, so you might be correct.c.h. wrote:I bought Habits & Contradictions off iTunes today and it's missing the tracks Raymond 1969, How We Feeling, and Blessed. I checked Amazon and those songs are missing on there too. anyone know why? sample clearance problems or something?

This song so fucking problematic
If this song is from one individual personal point of view ( Possibly a gang member/Kendrick himself), then it’s a dope song.
If this supposed to from the point of view the Black community as a whole……fail like a mothafucka

On one hand, it is dope.
On the other hand, it's twenty seconds shorter than Triumph and features seven less rappers.

Didn't love "I" and not really loving this King Kunta joint either. Need to listen to the whole album to see how it flows because I really am an album dude and love to listen front to back to see where the artist is coming from- but for now not impressed that much.

this. musically speaking, both those tunes are too busy.
Re: Black Hippy thread (Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, etc.)
King Kunta is tight. it's not that busy at all imo either

i & king kunta are both dope. they have a similar vibe that suggests kendrick is moving beyond rap into pure musicality. taking it to a whole notha level.
i think that untitled joint from colbert is not sposed to be on the album.

iTunes fucked up and accidentally released the clean version, and now it's everywhere
Explicit will likely be released soon as some damage control
EDIT: Explicit out now on most sources
It's much jazzier than GKMC. It seems to have been designed to feel 'important' though.

huge album for people who wear earth tones, head wraps & say things like "most hip hop isn't 'musical' enough for me"
it's trying to be aquemini / like water for chocolate / etc. 2015. i think it's good tho. i'm down with an album like this right now

On point. Black Hippy is the Soulquarians of 2015. Immense talent vs. basic vision. Kendrick will be better off if/when he steps down from his pedestal. Otherwise, dude is set to be Common 2.0ackbar wrote:huge album for people who wear earth tones, head wraps & say things like "most hip hop isn't 'musical' enough for me"

Gonna require many more listens, but I dig this. Musically just an interesting listen start to finish, I can't get down with all of it, especially all the voices, but it's ambitious as fuck imo. Guessing this one is gonna get obnoxiously praised and shitted on equally.

Not a big fan of Lamar but will check this because of the engineer mixedbyali.

After listening to King Kunta a dozen times over the weekend, I am liking it more, but still not blown away. Gonna give the album a listen today. Of course got a few texts overnight that the explicit was also on itunes, ordered it half asleep and they put me back in that pre-order lane.
