An Attempted Tony Yayo Thread

Post by blastmaster »

I can no longer hold in my appreciation for this man's work in the past 12 months. I am well aware that Mr. Yayo has a reputation as a terrible emcee. In times past, I would have agreed. His verses on the highly slept on Terminate On Sight stand out against the relatively pedestrian work put in by his G-Unit cohorts (the album is still one of the year's best). While enjoying this album, I would find myself chuckling in response to lines like "Who, who, who, who, who, who want it? Which gangsta want it? (WHAT?) Which rapper want it? (WHAT?) Which trapper want it? My house is haunted!" Simple, yet compelling within the context of a G-Unit track. Then came his SOD mixtape. The guy is killing pretty much every verse over some of the best hardcore, grimey beats I have heard in a long time. He isnt a "techinical emcee" by any means, but who the fuck wants to listen to that type of shit all the time? He is funny. His verses are suprisingly well-crafted, and he doesnt seem to care if he makes sense at all times.

I understand that I will be in the minority here, and that odds are no one will change their mind about Tony Yayo, but if this thread results in just one of you simple-minded faggots saying to yourself "Wow, that was actually pretty good. I will never admit it, but Yayo is a pretty interesting and fun character", then I have not wasted my time.

Here are two excellent and necessary videos for songs off of Swammies On Deck:

Do It Right Ft. Max B and French Montana

Face Off (Remix) Ft. Ransom and Cory Gunz

If you would like me to upload Swammies On Deck, just say the word.

i think this is the kind of rap i like. very black and very arrogant. and for the record its good to see black people who are interested in rapping under swinging lightbulbs in dungeons again. so in the words of the vicelords who robbed me for my lunch money in 94 on Bowmar avenue...

UP THAT SHIT HOMIE.

Totally agree on his work on the TOS album. I thought he was the best rapper on that album, as a whole.

Word, Ransom is nice.
"Pain & Glory" and "The Ransom Note" are the best mixtapes from him I've heard.
He did split tapes with Styles P and Budden that were dope too.

Seems the Yayo thread's been hijacked.

 my friend worked at a grocery store, and this younger hottie bitch, a pasteoid, one of those daddies lil girl types was a cashier there. she was all over this guy sayin how hes the best rapper alive, how she was in love with him. we was all like BITCH YOU CRAZY HE AINT EVEN THE BEST IN HIS OWN GROUP LET ALONE THE GAME! anyways this was a few years back like around when documentary came out and the 50 and game beef was just brewing. but damn, look at yayo now.

anyways bottom line: that sexy lil pasteoid bitch got an ear for talent (no im not talkin about blastmaster). sometimes stupid lil rich white girls knows whats up in the rap game. this fuckin bitch damn sure knew alot more than mindbender and this was back when she was damn near 14 years old.

Yayo is nice- THoughts of a Predicate felon was one of the most solid G-unit releases imo. Hes sounds better than Banks nowadays, and his freestyle from early 2000's were straight vicious.

I'm a big Ransom fan; check out datpiff they have all of his mixtapes. Street Cinema was kind of weak; his best shit was with A-Team and the early tapes he did solo.

i always liked yayo, hes a charecter, yeah he wasnt the best rapper at first, but he always entertained me

technically banks is a better rapper, but i could never listen to banks long

technically dope raps ware out quick when there is no charecter behind it, for me that is, i apprechiate em, but cant relate

i cant really relate to mc lyrical mirical who is a douchebag who grew up with no friends or girls and spent all his time focusing on writeing and rapping well and is focused on careing about meaningul stuff

i can relate to ignorant assholes who talk alot of shit and fuck everything up tho

yayo gets the thumbs up from me, especially when he allegedly smacked that kid around, GOOOOO YAYOOOO!
