Can somebody explain how Reks isn't even in the top 20? Yet Craig G, Ice Cube, EPMD & Guilty Simpson are all way ahead of him.

Go ahead fanboys, try and justify this mess.

Preemo's a legend. Craig G, Ice Cude and are also legends in thier own rite.. His tastes are going to lean to the classic era he helped create.

Guilty is that shit.

Didn't hear Reks. Ironic since my name is crash. Shut it Driz.

When I see that list I see 2 things:
A bunch of CD's I own:

2. EVIDENCE--THE LAYOVER EP (Decon)
*edit havnt heard static selektah
6. JAKE ONE--WHITE VAN MUSIC (RHYMESAYERS)
7. EMC--THE SHOW (M3/ TRAFFIC)

10. HELTAH SKELTAH--D.I.R.T.(Da Incredible Rap Duo) (DUCK DOWN)
11. LUDACRIS--THEATER OF THE MIND (DEF JAM/UNIVERSAL)
14. GUILTY SIMPSON--ODE TO THE GHETTO (STONES THROW)
HIP HOP (GOOD HANDS)
18. EPMD--WE MEAN BUSINESS (EP RECORDS)
19. 88 KEYS-- THE DEATH OF ADAM (DECON)
20. ILL BILL--THE HOUR OF REPRISAL (FAT BEATS)

HONORABLE MENTION-----(NOT IN ORDER)
1. GZAג€”PRO TOOLS

and the 2nd thing I see are the ones I should probably seek out since I can feel this list so much. :pause:

Ok, from that list. Albums that got a bad rep on here from what I remember were Guilty, Q-Tip, Term, EPMD, Large Pro, Gza, and Nas. So by standards of :phila:, its terrible taste......well done, Gloss.....

That is a fucked up list. Top 20 2008 list without "The Preface/Euro Pass" is an invalid list IMO.

Just seems to me that he compiled a list of albums he (partially) produced or compilationalbums from fellow DJ's.

I remember last year, he had a questionable list as well.

this list is bad.. I liked the layover and of the albums on this list, that and Jake One are the only 2 I actually own out of the top 20.

Don't all great artists seem to love the shittiest representations of their art?

That being said, this list isn't terrible. It does suck, though.

No list that includes Termanology should ever be taken seriously.

I think he throws that notion out there to stack some chips and gain fans from the "KIDS WHO CUT THEMSELVES" crowd.

I really can't see Jay-Z eating caviar to "Daughters" by John Mayer.

i dunno. i've noticed famous rappers tend to have awful musical taste. especially where non-rap is concerned. Not to mention, jay's old as shit now. i could see him chilling in a bubble bath bumping "your body is a wonderland". :nofancy:

My thoughts about this list.

1. DJ REVOLUTION--KING OF THE DECKS (Duck Down)

Not even the 5th best compilation this year. Full of filler.

2. EVIDENCE--THE LAYOVER EP (Decon)

Evidence is an atrocious rapper. The production is good but to be #2 on any list is absurd.

3. STATIK SELEKTAH--STICK 2 THE SCRIPT (Showoff/Traffic)

This is extremely disappointing compared to Statik's first LP. But he is boys with Statik and his manager so the love is understandable.

4. SCARFACE--EMERITUS (Rap-A-Lot/Asylum)

I'm okay with this. It's a top 5 LP.

5. D.I.T.C. presents THE MOVEMENT (D.I.T.C./Traf fic)

Horrible leftover crap thrown together so somebody could pay rent.

6. JAKE ONE--WHITE VAN MUSIC (RHYMESAYERS)

A good compilation. Not top 6 material. Better than DJ Revolution and Statik though.

7. EMC--THE SHOW (M3/ TRAFFIC)

Not mad at this. Top 10 LP.

8. P BROTHERS--THE GAS (IMPORT)

Not mad at this. Top 10 LP.

9. LIL WAYNE--THE CARTER III (CASH MONEY/UNIVERSAL)

Not mad at this. Top 10 LP.

10. HELTAH SKELTAH--D.I.R.T.(Da Incredible Rap Duo) (DUCK DOWN)

Not mad at this. Top 10 LP.

11. LUDACRIS--THEATER OF THE MIND (DEF JAM/UNIVERSAL)

Album is forgettable like most Luda albums. He's corny and contrived more now than ever before.

12. BIG SHUG--OTHER SIDE OF THE GAME (TRAFFIC)

Clearly we know why he put this on the list. Big Shug makes Lip Dap sound like Rakim.

13. TERMANOLOGY--POLITICS AS USUAL (NATURE SOUNDS/EMI)

Laughable.

14. GUILTY SIMPSON--ODE TO THE GHETTO (STONES THROW)

Over Elzhi or Black Milk?

15. Q-TIP--THE RENAISSANCE (MOTOWN/UNIVERSAL)

Not made at this.

16. ICE CUBE--RAW FOOTAGE (LENCH MOB/EMI)

Not a great Cube album. Shouldn't even be in the top 20.

17. CRAIG G & MARLEY MARL--OPERATION TAKE BACK HIP HOP (GOOD HANDS)

LMAO.

18. EPMD--WE MEAN BUSINESS (EP RECORDS)

For nostalgic reason I'm cool with this. The album wasn't that great though.

19. 88 KEYS-- THE DEATH OF ADAM (DECON)

A sleep on compilation that should be on the list along with Flying Lotus.

20. ILL BILL--THE HOUR OF REPRISAL (FAT BEATS)

I get it. He pays you.

HONORABLE MENTION-----(NOT IN ORDER)
1. GZAג€”PRO TOOLS

The worst Babygrande album of all--time.

2. REKSג€”GRAY HAIRS

This is better than anything in his top 10. Cannot believe he did not include this.

3. DEVIN THE DUDEג€”LANDING GEAR

This was a pity nomination. We all know the album stunk.

4. LARGE PROFESSORג€”MAIN SOURCE

See above.

5. NAS--UNTITLED

See above.

6. PRODIGY--HNIC 2

Should be top 20.

7. TRICK TRICKג€”THE VILLIAN

Didn't listen, don't know.

8. YOUNG MAYLAYג€”THE REAL COAST GUARD

See above.

9. THE GAMEג€”L.A.X.

The cool vote to show he knows whats up in the west.

10. BLACK MILKג€”TRONIC

Honorable.

11. TORAEג€”DAILY CONVERSATION

Honorable.

12. VAST AIREג€”DEUCES WILD

Horrible.

Can somebody give Premier the following to listen to?

The Roots - Rising Down
Atmosphere - When Life Gives You Lemons You Paint That Shit Gold
Killer Mike - I Pledge Allegiance To The Grind II
Young Jeezy - The Recession
A.B.N. - It Is What It Is

and that new Fat Joe

I didn't see Deuces Wild on that list before. That album is a complete abomination. Thank god Premier makes music and isn't an A&R at some label.

ode to the ghetto was a good album, but the madlib remixed versions were better.

Madlib remixed that album ??? when ? where ?
I didn't like that album. didn't pay attention to the lyrics cuz I never do but the beats were mostly blah. even Madlib's . If I recall well only Black Milk had a few head-nodding joints on there. The Dilla track was a joke
