his best production = classic

his average production = gimmicky as fuck

am i the only one who thinks "never let me down" is sappy as fuck? the only two elements of that song that are dope are a) jay-z's second verse and b) kanye's verse...that puts kan in some good company...his rapping is far more superior than his production on that track...

having said all this, he's made way too many bangers on too many rappers' albums...from talib to scarface, this man is unstoppable on the boards when he's not too worried about being soulful and restrains himself from having choruses sing corny fiddle-faddle

why do you think kanye is a weak rapper?

you go and try to write an entire song - two or three non-convoluted, crisp verses written with moments of wit and/or profundity and then a catchy and relevant hook

and then after writing that entire song, go in a studio and record vocals with a singy-songy flow that is catchy and at its worst at least smooth and never garbled

even the dumbest, most trivial rhymes he has ever made are catchy

his production is ok...definitely not weak but it doesnt do a whole lot for me either...every once in a while he puts out a banger

i like him quite a bit as an mc...hes not rakim or anything but hes dope...infinitely better than 99% of mainstream mc's

Juju is above average. He's got a good voice/flow. Psycho Les kinda annoys me though.

as skilled as nas and rakim are and they are more skilled than ace...their music catalog as a whole isnt near as enjoyable as aces

You're just comparing them as of LATELY, but the impact, catalog and skill are light years ahead of Ace.

the very best from the three of them puts ace in third place...but as you travel down their repective catalogs...ace doesnt fall off at all while the other two especially nas drop off a friggin cliff

when ALL their music is taken into consideration ace has had the best career imo...and the music is what i rate people on

in no way am i trying to minimize something such as rakims skill and ridiculous amount of influence in the game...but that only goes so far with me...i guess really what it comes down to is that everyone rates people in different ways
