Souls of Mischief- Montezuma's Revenge (Prince Paul)

Post by Brougham33 »

Tour Stories" has been released as a promo for their upcoming album. Song file information indicates that the title of the next album will be "Montezuma's Revenge" which will be produced by Prince Paul

So I guess this album is happening. Like 15 years late but I'll take it. Title seems influenced by Paul....Montezuma's Revenge is traveler's diarrhea.

"Tour Stories" is dope. Opio rips his verse. Tajai ...not so much.

So any theories as to why Opio is still spitting like he's hungry and Tajai seems to have forgotten how to rap?

Fair enough. But Tajai was never this bad, is what I'm saying.

Im actually suprised Opio still sounds good. I would like an Opio-Casual album... or I'll just listen to "Limitations" and save myself the disappointment.

Did you hear Tajai's 2005 solo record? He's been at this level for a minute.

Meanwhile, Opio's "Triangulation Station" from that same year was surprisingly pretty dope.

Nice to see the :phila: is feelin the new Souls joints, the homies stay killen it and passionate about that boombap. Its a beautiful/rare thing to see that type of dedication, longevity, and recognition from some Town natives.

Tajai runs the Hiero Imperium. It probably takes a lot out of him to keep 7 or 8 of his homeboys paid, cause rappers are lazy as shit. Plus, he's the educated one. He's got wingdings named Buffy and Brad telling him how he needs to be innovative.
Dudes like Opio and Casual are just emcees, that's what they do. Those guys can still hang with anyone on the mic.

Opios Vulture's Wisdom Vol. 1 is ill, and barely anyone talked about it last year.

Do they use words like 'rad'?

Tajai still has his moments. That one song on 'Full Circle' with him and Pep goin back and forth is hella clean.

A song that's actually dope that I like in 2009? Unbelievable.

Although my cynicism tells me this will be the best song and the album will be disappointing...

I'm a huge Souls fan and can confidently say Casual's retirement should've occurred sometime around the turn of the new millenium. He is literally embarrassing to watch or listen to.

As for Opio, he has his moments, but let's not pretend he's anything to write home about in 2009. In 2009 he's a concise, lucid version of Myka 9.

Whether or not Tajai still beasts it on the mic, his written shit bests anyone and everyone in or affiliated with Heiro. Wordplay to die for.
