If I would have been on here it wouldn't have. That was one of the best albums that dropped and when I visited Las Vegas, I was bangin it in the convertible rental with the kush in the air like it was the thing to do. "To The People" got the most airplay.

Prince Paul...want to see what he's bringin lately. And I still like Casual...whats wrong with dude to those who think he can't hang any more? Just his voice/cadence/ delivery has become so pronounced and somewhat "sing-songy" these days? If you're from the bay (maybe I can understand this a little bit better) or even just a fan in general I don't really follow the whole "Casual should have retired" thing. I think I know what you mean slightly but retired? Dude has always been one of our strongest representitives imo. Expound :sherlock: if you will.

"I got............to get DOOOOWWWWN" Yea I know it's somewhat old but I fucking love that cut. That's not the type shit you were referring to, was it? You did say new millenium.
Hope this turns out dope. SOM and Prince Paul? Nice. Now if we can only get Del and Prince...Ah, I keed. I'm off to purify myself in the waters of Lake Merritt and it's pearl necklace of illumination.

If the rest of the album is en par with Tour Stories then it should be the highlight of 2009.

Even with the best Prince Paul production behind this, doesn't anyone else think SOM can get boring for an entire album?

How many acts can you NOT say that about though?

Plus the fact its been so long since we heard something really good from them that its less likely to get boring really fast imo.

I like SOM just as much as the next guy. I have all their albums including their cassette only joints, but the only album I'll go back to a lot is '93 Til for obvious reasons. Still, they never were sick lyricists. Many of them sound the same. They were good, had a lot of fun widdit but they never said shit really. I can't see how an entire album wouldn't bore after the first 7 tracks. I hope we see some guest spots by Pep Love and DEL to mix things up.

I agree with you, for the most part. Even '93 Til..., I haven't listened to the whole album front to back since I was in college. But every release they have is worth checking. I suggest you go back to shit like No Man's Land and listen with fresh ears, there are some joints on that lp for sure.

Nobody cares about what you have to say. Not one person. Don't always try and challenge me. You are boring too.

You cry everytime I quote ya. It's a valid point. Every Hiero post you and 4 others say they're boring.

I don't always challenge you.. just when you're be a snarky faggot. like now.

I'm just happy all these guys are still putting out music.

'No Man's Land' got some bonafied heeeeeat on it.

rememeber this ill shit? in the vein of El-P's 'Dear Sirs':

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/dP8QofS-HpU&hl ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/dP8QofS-HpU&hl ... 2=0x54abd6" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Pep Love, motherfuckers:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/kMT8UnBgFJ8&hl ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/kMT8UnBgFJ8&hl ... 2=0x54abd6" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Souls of Mischief fucked my head up when they came out. "Let 'Em Know/That's When Ya Lost" was a major milestone in lyricism.

this album will have some good stuff on it, but maybe not as ill as if it was made in 1997.

and remember when Prince Paul made this? don't deny this man his props:

Haha, I'm a big fan of Hiero in general but yo, it's true. Souls had some real talk (e.g., Cab Fare), but for the most part they just flowed their blunted asses off almost identically. It works great if you listen for the mood and like the imagery--you know, the vibes and everything--but other than that, they indeed never really said shit. Still though, can't hate 'cause they flow similarly. Look at D.I.T.C., Boot Camp, et cetera, et cetera, to today with heads like Dipset, et cetera. There's always like a framework that's approached a little differently by each member, save for a few instances. Depends on how you look at it, I guess. To me it represents chemistry, like-mindedness and all that, which is the point for collectives.

As for this new album, I'm gassed. Tour Stories is dope (another rare case of real talk) and I'm glad Paul's intentionally dustin' out the sound for it. Could be a modern classic, who knows?
