I am pretty sure thats actually for store owners & buyers, not for retail customers. It is to get the retail outlets to stock the CD

It's catalog copy written by an intern who is paid to oversell things without the prerequisite of knowing anything about what they're talking about (there's a good change the person who wrote the copy hasn't even heard the album).

Decoding this:

Wutang is for fans of Gnarls Barkley and Rage Against the Machine = we're marketing this as a crossover album as opposed to just the hiphop market, and these are groups that have had high selling albums that are loosely affiliated with hiphop.

Chamber Music is a radical departure from the groups 8 Diagrams project = 8 Diagrams sold like shit, so please pay attention to our made up comps (comparables, as in Rage and Gnarls) as opposed to the groups recent record sales.

Reminiscent of the groups 36 Chambers sound with an updated twist = pay attention to the sales from that album from 15 years ago, those were good, but don't assume the music is exactly like that, because the throwback market was picked dry in the early 2000s and is getting smaller by the minute.

NY & LA as hometown markets = if you want to do promotional stuff in NY and/or LA you won't have to pay for travel.

Ghost world tour, Meth & Red album coming and on tour, buzz on Raekwon, group will participate in press junket = You won't have to pay for promotion because Ghost still has fans in Europe and can hand sell the album there, Red & Meth might get some press you can siphon off, Raekwon is years late on an album that will never come out, and Wu-Tang is broke and desperate and won't blow off/fuck up radio and in-store promotions like they used to. There's also a typo in the second bullet point.

info and tracklist:

WU-TANG CHAMBER MUSIC is a brand new project from the Wu-Tang (Executive Producer: RZA), which pairs original Clan MCs with other 90s-era New York rap veterans.

The album will be in-stores June 30th 2009. It features: Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, RZA, Inspectah Deck and U-God, along-side classic hip hop artists such as AZ, Cormega, Havoc (Mobb Deep), Kool G Rap, M.O.P, Masta Ace, Sadat X (Brand Nubian) and Sean Price (Heltah Skeltah/Boot Camp Clik).

CHAMBER MUSICג€™s throw-back sound is inspired by classic soul and kung fu imagery. It features a combination of new beats and live instrumentation by Brooklyn soul band The Revelations (all supervised by RZA).

i'd like to see a similar list for International sales, or even a city by city breakdown as i'm sure they might be selling more in Tokyo than Denver

the harbour masters track wasn't half bad either

and as much as i like gza, i don't see him bringing much to the table these days so it's not that glaring of an omission. ditto MK. some meth would be nice though, considering he actually seems to be improving a bit with old age

Since Drizzle rarely promotes his own posts, I'll reply with this. Pretty good breakdown of The Revelations material. This album definitely has some potential.

Rather than appearing on a compilation, these songs should just go on solo albums (e.g. the track featuring Ghostface should go on his next solo project).
