I dunno. I've heard an interview with the dude and he seemed real genuine and wasn't for the bullshit. Probably, because he knows a ton of niggas wanna bank on what Dilla has done and he wants to keep his eye out for the dumb shit. Who knows........

The question was more rhetorical than anything else, but I agree with you there. He seems to be one of the few genuinely concerned parties as opposed to the legions of dickfaces who blogged on MySpace the morning after his death about how they drank wine, stared at the ceiling and cried.

Trackmasters didnג€™t get shouted out on Ruff Draft and they actually took a beat from Dilla and it was called ג€œGot ג€˜Till Itג€™s Goneג€ by Janet Jackson and they worked with him so where is the crime in it.
can sbdy shoot that guy in the mouth

For him to even mention like that is fucked up. Dilla was pissed about the situation.
the guy is full of shit. that track was credited to Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis not to the Trackmasters. they took the beat from Dilla, won a grammy with the single and never acknowledged him.

I was actually going to mention that as well. Odd how that surfaced more after his death.

Well, you have to consider thats his homeboy and knew what Dilla would and wouldn't stand for. To see this happen after your homie passes has to fuck with your head a little bit.......

LOL, yeah. The fact that they're giving away his first album AND trying too sell it in stores doesn't bode to well IMO.

I understand the hate, but most of it seems unwarranted. He comes off sounding dumb in interviews, but so do a lot of other rappers...

Dilla influenced his music, he's crediting him in the best way possible for that. Regardless of what a lot of you might think, what Charles is doing will actually expand Dilla's name in a larger spectrum...and he's helping out Dilla's family.

Its funny how instead of getting shot or locked up to create a buzz, emcees are now getting a grundle to the face or creating a controversy like this. Bottom line is, people are talking about it, which helps both Charles and Dilla's foundation.

well maybe if he was doing it for dilla's family instead of just using it to promote himself it would make more sense.

he could have easily said "i'm putting dilla as the EP in respect to the effect he had on me and many others, and also to help his fam out" just as easily as he could have told black spade "oh you made the beat? nice man, what did you think of me spittin over it?" instead he falsifies things, acting like he knew dilla and dilla's fam, frontin like he made the beat that black spade clearly made...good intentions dont matter when you act like a lying whore to achieve them

people are talking about him like they talk about mindbender. countless situations where he looks like, speaks like, or acts like a fucking faggot who people would like to see get punched in the face more often. the only people buying his records dont know or care about jay dee or musical integrity.

basically. that corny dude could just give ma dukes some dough, instead he has to make an event out of it.

And who's to say they won't go pick up a Dilla album after hearing it?

Its not helping CH but its helping Dilla. He got into a legal issue with putting his name down as an Executive Producer. Thats money that has to be split that Iovine has to know about. And furthermore, its supposed to go to a charity that hasn't been revamped yet again. On top of that, he claims to know the fam. Business-wise and personally, both bad decisions. This could screw up his politics in the game later if he's not careful.

Shouting him out in the liner notes as an inspiration and donating proceeds to Ma Dukes would've all been better for him. Instead, he goes for the publicity stunt.

my point was: fucking faggots who dont know what good music is are buying this horseshit. these are not the type of people to check executive producer credits and go back to the 90s of said ep's discography to find old gems. they are more likely catching a charles track about his love of sega genesis characters on their itunes shuffle sandwiched inbetween a kid cudi single and the latest drake freestyle.

Next year we will begin another decade, meaning that you will now be two decades behind.

Different people listen to music for different reasons. You're making a huge generalization in your statement above. Everybody's gotta start somewhere.

You hate when mainstream artists dont credit those that came before, but its even worse when they do credit them.

Now, I agree with everything ardamus said if his facts are straight. I personally am not bothered by the situation enough to look into it. All I see is a newcomer showing love to one of his favorite artists and his family.

its pretty obvious from the numerous lies this guy has told and the fact that he doesnt even listen to the jay dee ep he probably only heard about after the stonesthrow reissue that he isnt interested in getting people listening to jay dee, hes interested in getting jay dee fans to listen to him. ridin coattails.

damn, posted wrong article at first. here you go.
http://www.rapbasement.com/charles-hami ... ssues.html

Hip Hop recently got news that Charles Hamilton would list the late, great J Dilla as an executive producer for his upcoming major label debut, "This Perfect Life." Now news has broke that Hamilton has now taken J Dilla off the album credits. Charles Hamilton says he did this due to legal issues. "I meant no harm by it and basically my intentions and the reaction have nothing to do with it, it really is a family issue that doesnג€™t concern me," he said recently. "And though my intentions were to help the family out, it turns out that it had been a lot more complicated to try to get his name involved in it."

Hamilton was trying to help Dilla's family as he says "My plan was, as everybody in the industry knows, executive producers get a percentage of sales and revenue, so I figured if his name is on the album, at least some money can go into their pockets, because everybody knows about the financial hardships of Ma Dukes."

Charles is releasing his album for free this Tuesday (June 16th), although he says it will still be released on Interscope. So how does Interscope feel about him leaking the album for free? "As long as Iג€™m doing what I have to do with the box set, they totally understand," he explained.

here's a twitter from House Shoes.

like i said, bruh, he was better off just saying homie was an inspiration and throwing money to the Dilla estate another way. its noble he wants to help them out but you can't throw homie's name on the shit and claim you know them and people say you don't; the ones closest to him. conflicting stories here.

absolutely, it's already been a whole 6 hours since the last post here, and only 1 other thread made on the subject, and only 1 tiny little blogpost made on steadybloggin. it definitely needed to be perpetuated and given more attention to. the 100s of other blog posts, tweets, and myspace buellits on the subject swarming the internet for the past 3 days have not been nearly enough.
