um, the opposite of everything in the other thread?

- release music on time
- only release finished versions rather than snippets/references/demos etc
- ignoring vague subliminals than have about 0.5% chance of being a dis.
- getting a Primo track on their album.
- try to raise the bar instead of duplicate it.

Stop copying the "whats hot now" shit and come up with their own ideas. Even if its similiar to someone else's, at least you're trying to stand on your own and not trying to hard to fit in.

smacking the shit out of wack rappers. PM Dawn wouldnt get no problems these days, everyone would just 'respect their grind'

I still think my idea of a Hip Hop Goon Squad to regulate thangs would work. Willie D, Freddie Foxxx, Eric B and Trick Trick are the primary candidates.

I would like to at tend more shows that are fluid in entertainment, if that makes sense.

basically, I was at a local hip hop/dub/instrumental band show and while I didn't enjoy all the acts, while one group was performing, off the side another was setting up, so that the minute that band/group finished, the next just fucking plugged in and started performing.
I had so much fun because I didn't have to listen to the venues shitty playlist between sets.

have a DJ or something to keep the party moving. Don't wait 10 minutes after the group before you finishes to start setting up.

that's kind of hard to do sometimes because the other band has to break down and then you have to set up. If there are two stages that works but then sound check has got to be a little wierd too.

I wish rappers would start using some fucking quality control. So much garbage shit and "filler" tracks get put out... Only release your absolute best shit wether its a mixtape or an album.

That applies to subject matter and rhymes as well as production. You ain't gotta be einstien on the track, but be consistent and be DOPE in all areas.

well then perhaps it has to do with being a professional about your craft and not requiring a soundcheck past the shit that happens before the doors open.

also agreeing to do a set that isn't on stage but possibly within the crowd. that is how it worked that night and I'll tell you this, the group that performed in the audience, on some fuck it, we're two dudes who sing dub reggae, won everybody over because they didn't give a fuck about a stage and being seen... they just performed some dope ass music that everyone was willing to vibe to.

I guess this kind of blends into the "how do you tour" thread, in that, be willing to perform wherever the fuck they will let you perform because the closer you are to people, the closer they will feel to you and be down with your music.

just a thought.

This is probably a "things you wish record labels would START doing" topic, but put out music that comes in a package that makes me want to buy it instead of downloading it. I have always been a "support the stuff you like" guy, but lately with money tight, if it doesn't come with dope artwork or a dvd or some reason to own a physical copy i will download it. I know some companies (RSE for one) do entice you with little bonuses but the majority of people are not doing that.
