Scaramanga - 7 Eyes, 7 Horns. Do you like it?

Post by Comedy Quaddafi »

I've been playing this a lot lately.

Image

This album perfectly captures the 90s grimey sound with the low-fi backdrops he rhymes on. He sometimes tramples all over the beat and manages to stay on it somehow. The intuitive way in which he writes is a very refreshing change from the straightforward narratives of many rappers. I also respect Godfather Don highly so it's cool to see he got his co-sign. It seems to me that Vordul basically lifted his whole style from this guy BTW.

I doubt this album got much attention but I wouldn't know? What has he been up to since, anything good?

The last I heard from him was that Wu-Tang meets the Indie Culture, his verse was very lackluster.

Glad to see this is getting some love.

As far as the Vordul thing I just think the similarities are uncanny. I suppose a lot of people were on that same tip back then, perhaps.

chances that co-flow bit a rapper who came out after them: 1 in 100, 000

chances that kool keith bit off a guy who was his protege: 1 in 500, 000

chances that outkast ever even heard of scara: zero

rappers egos: priceless

Hahaaa...

This is dope, though. I just don't like ScholarWise on this album.
He kinda shits on some tracks.
I put this and Godfather Don's Diabolique in the same vein.
Similar albums, IMO, but the Don one is better.

This is a dope album by the nigga with the golden gun alias. Probably his best work. Don't sleep on his other limited albums like snake eyes either. They're worthy of listening/copping.
