I don't know much about Doomtree, but I loved POS' Never Better, I should check out their other shit. POS seems like a crazy live performer.

Best is prolly the roots @ stubbs.. I've seen bun a couple times but last year he played the music hall with 8k strong.. And some dope lights and that ranks up there pretty high...

Best though.. Prince paul and pete rock @ The parish for richard henry's b-day...

Worst-wu @ stubbs.. De la @ emo's.. Dizzee rascal @ a barbershop(although I saw him later in the day and it was ight)...

What's sucks is that aot of people come to austin and are too drunk when they get on stage..

Best:

Bun B - He kilt it so hard, you can tell from the prescence hes a vet. I was the biggest UGK fan in there I think, did not stop jumping for a second. Duke noticed I think cuz he was all smiles when I gave him a pound outside. He smokes cigars like he says lol, I thought it was a blunt at first :omgracist:

Lupe Fiasco - Never thought a space homo could murder a show like that. He was backed by a live band too and the sound q was great. Nothing quite compares to 200+ Scandinavians going "HIFF HOFF HAS SAVED MY LIIIIIFE!!!"

Jigga - Very grandiose show with a liveband too. Big Pimpin played with a saxophone, tell me that ain't dope... such an iconic guy, this guy.

Akrobatik - Not rele my thing but we blew a j with him after the show. Hes a really chill guy.

Worst:

Clipse - They couldn't really be bothered and the crowd blew too. Too many steam-pressure machine sounds as well. Wackness.

Non Phixion + JMT - Super underground, dude. What a bunch of faggots, all of them. Stoupe stage-dived and hit me in the face with his Adidas. I kicked him in the shins before he got back up on stage. Ill Bill was piss drunk and growled like he was a leadsinger for Slipknot, none of the words were audible at all. They dissed the fuck outta the crowd as well so we started booing them and the whole thing was just awkward so they walked off stage in protest.

Wu-Tang - Fuck these guys ever so furiously. The show was insanely expensive and you had Ghost powernapping on the speakers and doing advertisements for BDR and his t-shirts instead of rapping. All of the guys left the stage when they had done their part to the song so it was like a trainstation on the stage. Only RZA and Deck gave a shit.
Whether to Jason of Philaflava or John Podesta, I will speak my fucking perspective openly

Damn...so if this thread teaches me anything, I should never expect a Wu-Tang show to go well huh?

From Wu ive seen (in order)

Raekwon
Gza
Ghost
Meth (& Red in Zurich a few months ago)

Rae was on st patricks day, so the venue was dangerously full, with very very drunken irish people, i think Rae will even say this is top 3 shows of his life

Gza looked like he was coming down off a 3 day crack binge,
he rapped to the floor with a towel on his head, while dreddie kruger kinda hyped, their dj (forget his name) was real cool, and tried to talk to me about rap, instea dof look for bitches, which surprised me......as i was looking for bitches

Ghost - jesus this was the worst of all, he did i think MAYBE 2 songs from ironman (30 seconds of each) it was basically the theodore unit featuring special guest ghostface, god just horrible.

Meth and Red....well,
it topped off an amazing random, weekend,
friday - i opene dup for smif n wessun
sat headlined in interlaken (one of the most beautiful cities ever) to around 900 people.
sunday saw meth and red.

IT WAS INCREDIBLE!
the only bad thing i can say is, since it was right as the new album was coming out, they did a lot of new songs,
if i had seen them maybe a year earlier, it could maybe be top 2 best gigs ive ever seen.

Apart that they left everyone waiting about 2 hours, worth it,
amazing.

sorry, I was ignoring you. Not fully ignoring like a weak bitch who needs a button to hide from the big, scary opinions, but just generally paying you very little attention. Until you change your broken record again, you're useless and stupid. You did good last week, I enjoyed conversing with you on a higher level than kindergarten, the realm where your weakling mindstate usually dwells, with its faggotry pronounciations.

I wish we met, that woulda been funny. You didn't see me rap, did you, Roger? I fucked that venue up something good that show, I know I did. The tone of the show changed after I got off stage. Energy was generated by me and Eternia, I could feeeel it :ironmike:

one of my prouder moments in my career... but there's always more to go

and I'm not bi-sexual, I'm just open minded to everyone doing everything. Any north american male who looks at porn sees more cock and balls than they want to admit, so whatever... i just don't judge or condemn anyone's sexuality, that's all.

speaking of, one of the best days of my life was when I was a stripper at one show at a ladies bar, got paid $200 to dance for two songs and lap dance a hot blonde, then went and rocked another show as Mindbender in another club in Calgary :rockout:

best:
maybe it was just the era and how geeked i was but the beatnuts/common sense/organized konfusion/artifacts show i saw blew my mind when i saw it. looking at it now though, they coulda just lip synched their rhymes behind a curtain and i would have loved it.

BDP at SOB's was the first show i ever saw. i was 16 and got in with terrible fake ID. it was one of the shows he used for the live album. i was there for his debut of "house nigga". it was insane.

worst:
i recently (within the last 3 years) saw the clipse at the knitting factory. the place was way too packed and a million degrees. they went on mad late and ab liva and sandman did most of the rapping. the performed for like 25 minutes. it sucked dick.
on a side note, after the show i saw them all (the whole re-up gang) drive off , stuffed into a tiny sedan. for some reason, i assumed they would have a doper car.

Best show I've ever been to was wu-tang at the paramount (really cool old grandiose theater with a balcony and shit). lifesavas opened the show about an hour and a half after they were supposed to and were fucking horrible. I hate those guys. about an hour after they finished the Black knights came on stage drunk as fuck, each of them with a bottle in hand that they were steady drinking on, and they fucking ripped it. After they were done the entire wu came out (minus ol dirty) and the majority of them were drunk and drinking on fifths of shit and smoking blunts and they all put on an incredible show anyways. at the end they started pulling pretty much every attractive girl from the front of the crowd onstage. there was a couple next to me and rza pulled the girl on stage and one of the black knights had her shirt off and was making out with her and playing with the tittays within a minute or two while her boyfriend cried quietly and then stormed out. The wu then invited every girl on stage and in the crowd to join them at their hotel and shouted out their room numbers and then exited with all of the girls from the stage including dudes girl. I'm guessing they ended up running a train on her. It was a magical evening for everyone.

I'm assuming that since they shouted out their room numbers the train-running portion of the evening was probably interrupted pretty regularly by geeky white kids from the suburbs.

I was in the can of sardines for that evening, up in the mezzanine, to see this atrocity go down. Tom Breihan went on to write how awesome the show was the next day, giving it a largely glowing review. I remember being so pissed off, I gave a response:
"I love rap music, kids. I just don't like halfassed live shows." You said that a month ago. You'll forgive my intuition Tom, but 9 times out of 10, the underground scene/"Okayplayerification" (as you more than likely call it) is much more adept to putting on live shows that are actually worth the money spent. This show in particular, which I did have the unfortunate karma of attending believe it or not, was a good example of the kind I personally would avoid if blessed with such clairvoyance about the scene (one which you apparently have failed at grasping yourself).
Then he went on write another faggot ass review of one of their mixtapes a few years later, only to be called out by them personally about how inaccurate the review was. Go figure.

edit: so I guess it's not so much that I block out the bad experiences, I just tend to write about them online and then almost forget I did years later.

best show i've been to was the first summer fling festival here in saskatoon. (2007)

somehow, we got both del and aplus and all of EMC as they crossed canada in opposite directions on the same night.

del was WAAAAAAY better than the previous time he had been through saskatoon, smokin blunts on stage and was pretty entertaining all the way through.

eMC fucking KILLED it. literally the best ive seen, masta ace is a legend and it was amazing to see him live, (twice, after that show)

plus a number of other notable canadian rappers, whom im sure none of you care about, but nonetheless was dope as fuck. i think there was about 6 hours straight of music.

marco and moss and a few other dudes did a live beat making segment.

second big show was method mad, ive never seen anyone control a crowd like he did. felt like everyone was his puppet the whole show through. his stage presence is crazy.

i cant really remember any bad rap shows. i mean theres always bad parts, but never anything that stands out as horrible.

contrary to most points on here, i had a lot of fun at the GZA show that came through, one of my greatest moments being able to open for him.
i thought he was amazing live, and the problems mentioned here were not to be found. did every line of his set and EVERYONE in the building were right there along with him.

its unbelievable to see those guys live

rap shows are usually the highlights of my months. so i usually have a great time.

1993, 2pac throwing a mic at a guy in the crowd who was throwing ice at him. riot ensues after pac jumps in the crowd, followed by a mob of guys in thug life jackets

i always love it when a guy challenges anyone in the audience to get on stage and fight him.
Hey, by the way who's Curt?

When it's open-mic amateur night and some goof is rapping about how tough he is I always feel like rushing the stage to make him prove it.

Best experience: Mos Def, MOP, & Gang Starr at BB King. After Mos Def's set, the whiteys fled the building as if it were on fire, leaving me the only pasteoid in the crowd (just the way I like it) for M.O.P. & Gang Starr.

Worst experience: Watching Sadat X get booed and have bottles thrown at him by Def Jux fans when Hangar 18 brought him out for a song.

Funny I just jumped in this thread to post about how fucking terrible GZA is live.

Common was really good but he makes me want to vomit in my own mouth so i won't be going to see him again. Pigeon John is pretty damn good live too.

Bests:
Devin the Dude and Bun B, Mezzanine SF, 08 I believe. Venue was dope, the smoke was right and both of them layed it down. I left this show with a gash in my forehead cause I was getting crunk too close to a cement pillar. Seen Devin multiple times and each of his shows were their own tale. Coughee Brothers are a great addition.

Cypress Hill, Fillmore SF, 4/20/2008 & Rock The Bells, SF, 2007.
The fillmore venue was seriously boxed and they put on an amazingly high energy show. Great peoples. I rolled my balls off and tore up the wood grain floors.
RTB was insane. They had a huge blow up bhudda on stage and smoke machines. Unforgettable.

BCC/Sean Price, Slims SF.
First time I had ever heard Sean Price's "Onionhead" and I was a pack of swishers deep and laughed my nutsack off at that Arigato line. Tek and Steele killed it.

Worsts:
Wu-Tang, Rock the Bells SF.
Method Man was shining but half the crews mics weren't working and they looked bored.

MF Doom, Slims SF.
Brother Ali killed this show and then Doom came on lookin like rotten bologne and farted out the lyrics to a couple popular songs. He walked off stage in the middle of the routine for about 10 minutes, im guessing for some pick me up, and then came back. His brother was the backup man and shouted over all the lyrics. I felt fat for watching.
