Artists you despise, that othas enjoy...
Busdriver
MF Doom
Camron
Quasimoto
Joe Budden
Jim Jones
Juelz Santana
Mac Dre
Lil Wayne
Invincible
Drake
Rick Ross
Keak Da Sneak
Brother Ali
Aesop Rock
I personally don't understand why some of the artists I named even have careers. I'll single out Busdriver for a minute. Who the fuck can listen through a whole album from this dude? Rappin at a 100mph ova mediocre melancholy beats is not the business. You don't have to rap that fast to get attention. It's like yes you can rap fast, but can you do anything else? His subject matter is pretentious, borderline bougie. Homie appeals to white suburbanite, cellar dweller, just got out the computer lab, Jansport types. I seriously doubt that he has any black fans. This is just one man's opinion.
Feel free to add-on to the list...

My thing with Invincible is her lack of variation of cadences. Yes she can spit, but everything is in a straight line. I've heard on many Michigan related projects ova the years and every verse is the same vocal pattern.PackFM wrote:whats wrong with invincible?
Her solo album that came out last year was the same shit. It doesn't make for an entertaining listen.
Really? Black folk that ain't rappers? I don't know i know very many people that enjoy his music that don't rap, black or white or whatever...senorhaha wrote:i know pleny of black folk that enjoy busdrivers music
I never liked Bus's music too much but I can definitely respect what he does, especially at a live show

too earnest, which is offputting. plus he tries to push the 'regular kinda angry dude with heart' thing, but we all know albinos have no souls.Dids wrote:Somebody please break down the Brother Ali hate for me? Have a hard time understanding what people could dislike about him.

Aiight so, you're admitting in a sense you see why she has a career right? Wanting her to switch up the way she raps and why she doesn't deserve to have a career are two different things.Big Breeze wrote:My thing with Invincible is her lack of variation of cadences. I would respond to the Bus Driver comment but my sig/post combo would not make a good combo.

I'll add:Big Breeze wrote: Busdriver
I've always liked his music, but I can understand the hate.
MF Doom
No way.
Camron
Right on
Quasimoto
I disagree. One of my fav hip-hop alter egos.
Joe Budden
I hated him when he first came out. I can tolerate him now.
Jim Jones
Indifferent. I haven't heard much of his music.
Juelz Santana
No opinion. Not really familar with his music.
Mac Dre
Same as bove.
Lil Wayne
Absolutely.
Invincible
Disagree. Probably my favorite female emcee right now. I thought her debut was the best female emcee album in ages.
Drake
Agreed.
Rick Ross
He's probably the only mainstream emcee I can tolerate. Hate his subject matter, but his flow is dope.
Keak Da Sneak
No familar with his music.
Brother Ali
He's dope.
Aesop Rock
He's dope too.
Black Eyed Peas (first two albums were dope, then they completley sold out)
Souljah Boy
T.I.
Kanye West (kinda have a love/hate relationship with his music, purely hate right now)
Eminem

post up a good song and convince me. I hate to hate too. I just have not heard anything that makes me actually give a shit.
in another words, you see the potential.......the output of the final project is what disappoints you. ok.Big Breeze wrote:Just cause you can spit doesn't mean you do it well in the studio. Invincible doesn't put it down in the studio, and I'm surprised she hasn't made the adjustment her self. If I was her, I would be like, "Damn, this don't sound too good."

I agree with this entire list except MF Doom and Quasimoto, but I can certainly see how some people don't like them because their styles(or voices) are so different. Brother Ali I am ambivalent about. His delivery is too forced trying to sound all powerful and poignant, but he has some good lyrics for the most part. I don't like his beats though. I thought Shadows on the Sun was overrated, mostly because of the production. There were some good songs though. Oh and although I don't really listen to Aesop Rock I can see the appeal, he has an original style and intriguing lyrics(if you can decipher them).Big Breeze wrote:Busdriver

I will add Eminem post 2002. And E-40, dude just makes horrible music. And I dunno...mostly any mainstream rapper. I'll just say Young Jeezy for now.
I'm impressed and amazed with your regular font Breeze, especially after all the shit you took on hhs. You were persistent for a long time.
