Elzhi- The Left Overs (The Unmixed Tape)

Post by 1986 »

This just came out the other day, saw it over on 2dopeboyz and was surprised it hasn't popped up :pause: over here yet...from the site:

The Leftovers UnMixedtape is exactly what it sounds like: A compilation of one of the gameג€™s most talented Emceeג€™s unreleased and featured works. Whether itג€™s a promo joint from a few months back (eLZhi and Black Milk ג€“ Deep), a feature from another artistג€™s project (Danny Brown ג€“ Contra feat. eLZhi), or just a rare gem from years past (eLZhi and DJ Dez ג€“ Living), these Leftovers would have passed for a fresh cooked meal if you didnג€™t know better. Itג€™s raw, uncut, unmastered, fresh from the studio and ready for your ears. No DJs, just eLZhi and his comrades, your speakers and you. Without the Leftovers UnMixedtape, most of these songs would never have seen the light of day, so consider this a gift, and come get your grub on!

Track list-

01 The Great (prod. Oh No)
02 Deep (prod. Black Milk)
03 Conta f. Danny Brown (prod. Appolo Brown)
04 Like This (prod. Black Milk)
05 Red, Black & Green (prod. Black Milk)
06 Glow (prod. Jake One)
07 Living (prod. DJ Dez)
08 Dream (prod. Jake One)
09 The Crowd (prod. Leef)
10 Dedication f. Fes Roc (prod. DJ Dez)
11 Colors (rmx) (prod. DJ Spinna)
12 Flyest f. Smitty (prod. Denmark Vessey)
13 5 Man Hustle (prod. Black Milk)

"Euro Pass" was the dopest album that dropped last year in my opinion. Much betta than the official release that El dropped last year, "The Preface".

Lyricism and beats were top notch on "Euro Pass". I'm sure this release should be solid as well.

what ever happened to that Illmatic reworking he planned to do??

I'll definitely check this out.
Elzhi's raps grew on me. I dismissed him initially as a blah detroit rapper that has flow, as they all do, but ain't saying shit.

I had a change of heart. I dig his style.

sometimes this is true, like his verse on icon's new album, but he does some really interesting concept-type tracks that would be horrible without the right execution (colors, d.e.m.o.n.s., guessing game) etc. he has a pretty decent ear for beats as well.

i like the preface. haven't checked europass yet but it's on my list.

Yeah I've heard that track before. I have Danny Brown's last album.

I try to get as much shit from Detroit as I can. Outside of Cali, it is my favorite region to get hip hop music from.

also enjoyed d.e.m.o.n.s., guessing game, colors, brag swag....

tough to say euro pass is much better than the preface, but I'm one of few people who actually heard the preface first. maybe i'd feel the other way if i heard euro pass when it dropped...

I'm sorry, if your lyrics aren't about crack sales and shooting people I'm not interested, regardless of the genre.
