Producers: MPC 500?

Post by stype_ones »

In all honesty, is the 500 a good machine to make beats with or should i just keep saving and saving until I can copp a used 3000 or just wild out and get a 5000?

I really do not have a lot of money to spend on production equipment and won't for some time, but I really want to start making beats. I messed around with Cool Edit and Fruity Loops, but that is boring to me. I'd rather use an all in one machine. Is the 500 good enough? The price tag is not to steep, I could prob get one for less than $500.

a 1000 is infinitely more capable than a 500. buy a 1000 and buy jj's operating system.

the 500 is solid, but you should just save a couple hundred more and buy a 1000.

Id never buy a 500,1000,2500 or 5000.

Stick with the originals...60,2000,2000xl,3000,4000...all of these machines are SOLID.

If your gonna spend cash on a 1000 you'd be better off grabbing a 2000XL and pimpin it with a flash drive and the 8 outs card...I dont know..ive made beats on the 500, 1000, 2000, 2000xl,2500, 3000&4000 in my days and i Still stick to the 2000xl as my main go to sampler/drum machine...it'll never die.

The pads from the 500 & 1000 are even worse than the pads from the mpd series.. finger breaking material..

the black 1000s pads arent TOO bad response wise, I still regret buying the thing though. Should have got the 2000xl, its about the same price range.

But your right, bang on the 1000 for a while and you feel it in your fingers.

the 1000 with jjos is more capable than any of the older models. And yes, the 1000 did have pad issues. All of my pads eventually died, but after replacing the pads with the single sheet design (virtually identical to the older models), it has worked great.
