Cassie, Rick Ross, Red Cafe, Dirty Money, Janelle & Aasim...

Supreme team: Diddy, Loso, Red Cafe

Adding on Nicki Minaj, possibly Jay Electronica, looks like Diddy got a new dynasty....

Janelle > the rest of those people.

Jay Elect is great, but not really in the family.

Yeah, "basically"..
Which means he isn't really.

I agree, he is "kinda" part of the family. Hope he never gets closer to Diddy than that.

Janelle Monae is incredible.

Not sure about having two early 00s mixtape rappers on the roster... didn't even know Aasim was still around like that.

Diddy's suggesting Bomb Squad producing for Jay....Not a bad idea tho? That would be incredible...

Allot of 'em (Ross, Loso, etc.) are being/gonna be managed by him not signed to the label. Red Cafe is signed to the label.

Not a Janelle fan. I hear the production on her album is great but the singles scream of "i'm a girl who acts like a 12-year-old boy, aren't I interesting in the most uninteresting ways?"

Plus the way she describes her music reeks of cultural studies major. Behold - http://twitter.com/JanelleMonae/status/13365062071

I'd rather be alive, and own my publishing, thank you very much.

Careers/lives helped, and then ruined by Sean Combs and the Bad Boy Curse:

Christopher "Notorious B.I.G." Wallace
Shyne
The LOX
Ma$e
Loon
G Dep
Black Rob
Faith Evans
Young Joc
Da Band
Carl Thomas
112
8Ball and MJG
Bad Boy Staff

nobody has had a long-standing career there. sure Redman hates Def Jam, but at least Def Jam tries to not completely ruin the lives of those who may come and go there. lots of rap institutions have shady shit going on behind them, and maybe the Roc crumbled, Ruff Ryders went flat, Cash Money robbed Mannie Fresh or whatever, and Wu-Tang was too volatile to stay on top, etc. whatever, you can critique every crew and legacy for its shortcomings and the failures on manifesting their potential.

but Bad Boy is the worst of them all.

NOBODY has a career that's on Bad Boy right now. Not even Puffy. To act like there is any buzz for this 'Last Train To Paris' album is to reveal your day time occupation as a street team assistant for Bad Boy Records.

you sign there, kiss your art goodbye.

is Red Cafe, the newest artist to signed to Bad Boy going to REALLY "bring New York" back? ha. ha. ha. that guy's been floating around the NYC mixtape scene for a decade, making no music that anyone remembers.

I respect Diddy and his drive to make his own hip hop legacy, I like anyone on earth who tries to do that. But I also think he can be the devil.

"To all you artists out there, who don't wanna be on a record label where the Executive Producer is... all up in the videos, all on the records dancin', ...then come to Death Row!"

 ^^^ listen man, I don't play this binary brain shit.
you obviously were at Justin's 16th birthday party. I wish I was there with you, gawking at Nicki Minaj's ass like the rest of everyone. But for you to not be able to impartially offer any constructive criticism of Puff Daddy's career means you aren't mature enough to talk to about this.

Its not all black and white. Nothing is. I don't hate Sean Combs. he's a hero of mine. I'm just not gonna pretend he's an angel making perfect business decisions for everyone around him. Mark Curry may be crazy, but he's not a liar

as if Diddy's "management" of Nicki Minaj is going to be a major factor in her blowing up (uh, she kinda had her own deafening buzz, before Diddy jumped on board). We'll see how long that lasts when Wayne gets out of jail.
and Rick Ross? are these fucking guys REALLY going to try and resurrect the essence of Biggie, just because Rick is obese and talks gangsta? :wtf: Christopher is rolling in his grave right now, if so.
Red Cafe. I repeat: ha. ha. I wish him the best. But I ain't hear him bringing nothing new to rap so... good luck.
and Jay Electronica is too smart to throw his career away rolling tight with Diddy everywhere. They are tangentially affiliated, and have made one song together. Don't act like he's the new signee to Bad Boy.

In the future, I will see you at one of Diddy's Justin restaurants, and I will still cheers a drink with you, because we can agree to disagree. Grown folks do that. Kids fight over different opinions.

I end off by saying: THAT JANELLE MONAE ALBUM -IS- ONE OF THE TOP 5 ALBUMS THAT WILL BE RELEASED ON PLANET EARTH IN 2010.

peace and truth,

sure they have, I remember them from the Suave House Pen and Pixel days. I respect them
but:
what did signing to Bad Boy do for them besides a whole shit load of nothing?

they just signed to Grand Hustle for this 'Ten Toes Down' album they just dropped.

they did 2 if not 3 albums on Bad Boy that barely anyone noticed.

Bad Boy Curse in full effect.

To be fair though, in at least 90% of cases there's nothing more disappointing than hearing a musician explain the thinking behind their music. This is particularly bad though.

This statement contradicts everything you been saying. Obviously she has a career. Same to Ross, Fab, Minaj, Jay Elect....Cafe 'I'm Ill' is on 106....."Black is back, get a sun tan Bitch TAKE THAT!"

Puffy's main issue is that since he blew up as an artist after Biggie died he wont allow anyone on the label to get to a stage where they might overshadow him.

He's also jumps on passing bandwagons with an efficiency that makes Jay Z look cautious.

also, Red Cafe's 'Heart & Soul' was one of my favourite songs of 2009.
