hey

there is not much out there for consumption so the excitement is somewhat expected. never really got into this even when i heard it a few weeks ago.

its kinda raw and aggressive and holding all the key elements i once demanded in a album, but this seems to be too well coaxed and chereographed for me to bond with it

beats are heavy and swol

the lyrics and hoopla is right there, but its really played itself into a predictable pattern.

i wouldnt diss it or say its this or that, its the new, its whats out. but it really left me feeling kind of foolish and cheap because going in i thought this album could be special

but it does get:
:ignore: :ignore: :ignore: and 1/2 mindbender ignores from me
Hey, by the way who's Curt?

I don't even mind "Hustle Blood" anymore, especially in the context of the album. The only tracks I think aren't worthy of the album are "Turns Me On" and "Daddy Fat Sax," the latter because Outkast doesn't need to try and sound like NYC hip-hop and/or make a Primo interpretation. The rest of the album is top notch.

Am I the only one who thinks this might be a modern day classic, and not in the Teflon Don sense?

:megaman:
i was :ohsh: for hustle blood like 2 seconds in. whole album is :ohsh: to the maximum (and the skits are excellent) the sound is incredible and big boi comes correct throughout the whole album. it manages to draw from the previous outkast and big boi sounds/brands and yet propel that shit into now. ill listen to this album for a long time probably.

im really really curious how andre is going to drop it though. big boi brings some of love below into this album and so im wondering how andre will come out of the gate. i feel like it wont be sing songy like love below but it will probably have some of that in it but you trust andre to not just make a new love below album. weve also been waiting for him to rap over a whole album for a long time and he has to know that. so im really excited for the possibilities.

the biggest problem with the way music works through the internet. i never heard royal flush and so i was not let down in any way. but you let that shit fly and then all of the sudden everybody KNOWS the type of album youre about to release but then you give em something different but still dope and all of the sudden its no good....:fail:

Right now, I would have to say this is my 3rd favorite album of the year. Might be the 2nd, it is neck and neck with The Roots. None of them are coming close to Distant Relatives, though.

One quarter left in the year, so there could be a change in opinion come December.

Not feeling this in the least. Electronic shit. Big Boi is cool, but the music isn't.

Isn't it fairly obvious the song is kind of an homage to their sound from Southerplaya? Sure they were more influenced by NYC back then, but putting Fat Sax first and harking back to that album all seems pretty clear to me. Might just be that I like the song a lot, too.

Does anybody actually think that The Love Below is really a good album, though? It's a huge single sandwiched between a bunch of mediocre half formed thought experiments.

Sir Lucoius>>Speakerboxxx>>>>>>>>>Love Below

imo we still don't know if Andre can stay focused enough to make a good solo album.

nah, just the lyrics are not as deep as they should be

the beats are as good as any major label LP in 2010

Def Jam did good, Jive did BAD

peace to Big Boi

Agree with Drizzle about I didn't expect this album to sound like this. Sequencing of the album is off and some tracks not being included, as well as some being included, hurt the album. I think the best songs on the album were the singles, and by the time the album finally leaked I was pretty tired of them. I also think Royal Flush and Lookin 4 Ya are better than any song on here. Album doesn't really have replay either. Still a pretty good album.

i was just saying in general but still. album is solid front to back

i think its a really good album. i mustve listened to that album regularly for a whole year or even two before even really chilling with anything else on a regular basis. i mean shit, i put love below on front to back just the other day and still really enjoyed what was going on with it

so...well. yeah. love below belongs on the real good music shelf. its the whole sound/concept that makes it such a fun and lasting concept record. its got all these great moments on it that you can vibe with. you know? its almost like telling a musical story. what else is music supposed to be? sure its got some far out stuff, but its really well executed in my opinion. if you cant vibe with that album then thats an unfortunate circumstance in my humble

Def Jam really missed the bus by not marketing "Shine Blockas" more forcefully in the summer. I don't know how that wasn't played every hour on the radio.
