+1. Underbelly is awesome.
Resolved Question
Does Biggie Smalls hate HipHop???

"Shoulda been a cop, Fukc Hiphop"

I've been wondering what he meant by this.
Additional Details
Rap sucks, HipHop is better

Best Answer - Chosen by Voters
Naw, he likes hip hop and rap. He was just referring to if he hadn't started rapping he would've been a cop.
So he's cursing it, not that he doesn't like it, just for the sake of it.

does The Dream count as a hip hop artist?

if not,

5th rate The Dream minus the genius songwriting and auteur persona - Thank Me Later

&

Giggs - Let'em Ave It

Have hogged my cd deck the most.

"Street Albums"

Lebron Flocka James 2
Pac Div - Don't Mention It
Rick Ross - Albert Anastasia EP
Oschino Vasquez - Appetizer IV
Laws - 4:57
Big K.R.I.T. - Krit Wuz Here

Haven't heard a lot of stuff. Made lots of mixtapes of singles moreso than played albums.

TSOL belongs on the list at this point, but I can definitely see it getting edged off by the end of the year.

Distant Relatives should be on there, for sure.

Homeboy Sandman's album was as good as Freeway's.

The Hybrid not an "official" release, is it? If it is then I would toss that in too.

The whole idea of an "official album" is pretty much outdated, no?

So far this and Yela's Trunk Muzik my clear favorites.

Andre Nickatina's is noteworthy too.

Mic Terror's Can I Borrow A Feeling is a contender.
Jay West's Drugs + Candy is on my list if it counts as is Young Lyxx's Rosaries on The Dresser.

A.Leon Craft's Prologue EPs have been wonderful too.

Peach Cobbler For Mobsters 1-4 have been in steady rotation too.

I'm sure I'm missing some more...

The Blades of Glory/ Chaz Michaels flip is glorious (and strangely legit.) You should make message-board posts about some of these releases, I don't really check the blog.

Not just for my benefit, but for the sake of having somewhere to discuss new shit that drops.

Check the blog mayne. Anytime I make threads about new stuff they flop badly.

While the Blacastatan is dope, I can't believe anyone who likes hip-hop and has two good ears would think El De Sensei is capable of putting out an "album of the year" type of album. He is a complete and utter bore.

El De Sensei was a bit of a bore in his prime, can't imagine wanting to listen to an album of his in 2010.

Maybe you don"t consider the Nas and Marley project "Official", but that is still the album of the year to me. Bottom line is some are close and a couple are closer, but that album is exceptional and def in the main event for album of the year.
