Does Stones Throw implant ghosts in the machines?

Post by Employee »

I posted this http://phillipflavors.blogspot.com/2010 ... album.html on my blog a little over a week ago. Now they yanked (nh) the video from YouTube. It was Del bustin' (nh) over the "Madvillain" instrumental and it sounded great. They previously had Steady Bloggin' shut down on Blogspot. But you can go on YouTube or Google links for tons of their fucking music.

WTF?

They didn't have SB shut down. We just had numerous complaints and theirs was the final straw. But they are uber online fags about their music.

^Word it's like they think they're doing themselves a favor by keeping every Madlib instrumental album off the internet, but I haven't copped anything by Madlib since I bought the 1st Yesterday's New Quintet and was severely disappointed.

Seeing as how they are still solvent, pressing vinyl, and putting out CD's...it is hard to see how they are NOT doing themselves a favor.

Yup. Why care about pissing off people that arent paying for your shit anyway.
Its the same with Defected (big house music label) - they shut down ANYTHING of their's that they find online. Even to the point that DJs that arent on their mailing list have been told not to play tracks on online radio shows. They're the biggest label in their genre so it obviously isnt hurting them.

Nevertheless, going as far as having a fan-made mashup taken down is a little overboard.

yeah totally but its probably easier to use zero tolerance than spend time assessing each situation.
