Kanye West - Dark Twisted Fantasy

Post by Icesickle »

Album's sure to leak soon.

Some clips from Runaway, which has snippets of a lot of the songs on the album. The beat on "All of the Lights" is woah. One of the best beats Kanye's ever made.

'Tis all good. No need to apologize. It's not like you turned me over to ICE or anything bro.

Really looking forward to hearing My Chain Heavy. His verses that he did for Facebook from that seemed pretty serious / great. Starts at 1:30 in this video:

This guy is trying to so hard to craft his image as a throwback rockstar that all I can do is cringe and laugh.

Some of these songs are pretty awesome beat-wise though...

So what's with the whole bestiality motif? I'm aroused and it concerns me.

It's wack how people who were probably heralding him as a hif-hoff savior before College Dropout are acting like he fell off lyrically, even though Kanye's cadence, flow, and lyrics are as good as they've ever been recently.

Not saying you were because he didn't have diamond teeth then; just saying....

Kanye comes off on this as well. His second and third verses are sick. Jesus.

This is going to be album of the year. Sorry caucasian malcontents.

I like basically all the songs that I have heard, and I am going to acknowledge this fact when the album drops just the same. I will most likely even bump the shit out of it for a couple of weeks. However, one thing I will not do is allow this guy and this album to take over Hip Hop for 6 months. At least not for me. This often happens with his albums, or Jay albums. It's because these guys crossover so damn much. Not even in the music, just in the way everyone sweats them so hard. I can't stand that shit. People who know nothing of the history of this music, nor care or try to learn, start claiming shit. Like some 20 year old floozy at what ever bottle service club is poppin in the meat packing district, or some little herb in skinny jeans trying to rock Polo Cookies 18 years later. I'm happy for them and everything, but it gives me stomach aches all the same.

Begrudging an artist for their success and/or liking them less because they've accumulated a large, diverse fan base is odd, bro.

WHAT HAPPENED?

He was in Hawaii doing big things, about to come back with a hard hitting boom bap album, with beats by Premier, Q-Tip, RZA, Pete Rock and them, even futuristic stuff by Toomp and himself, and things were looking incredible early in the summer. He dropped Power and Devil In A New Dress, only confirming it.

But the last couple of months he's been making ALL THE WRONG MOVES. Most of the Good Fridays tracks turned out terrible (JBL described it well), to the point I even stopped checking for them. He's getting that mediocre bitch ass Pusha T all over most tracks, also letting Swizz Beats ruin them. Furthermore he's changing the second verse on Power because he's friends with SNL again, and now I hear he slapped Rick Ross onto Devil In A New Dress? And these Good Fridays abominations making it onto the album...? I've been riding for Kanye all these years, but damn this album is getting hard to support. Anticipation honestly went from 150% to 10% these past few weeks.

ICE, IT'S CALLED FUCKING "MY BEAUTIFUL DARK TWISTED FANTASY", DON'T SUGARCOAT IT.

Well, I'm rightfully disappointed. The album took a different direction without warning. Now Premo's no longer on there, for instance.

You're championing him, but it's like blastmaster and that southern ghetto blang muzak, you're just heavily into a freak branch of hip hop and trying to force on others. Doesn't make it right. I guess Kanye agrees with you though, looking at this new team he's got.

i think what he meant was that the albums shelf life is extended due to the crossover appeal, so if youre someone who cops a track the minute it leaks onto the net you're gonna be fed up of it by the time its being rinsed out on mainstream radio and at bottle service clubs 6 months later.
That saturation and over-exposure can put you off the artist in question.

i dont think he really hides that though, so it doesnt bother me as much. some people definitely wear their influences on their sleeve moreso than others, kanye seems like one of those types
