Looks like Ross is trying to sign Meek Mill and Wale. Could be a good move.
Rick Ross is gearing up for some big moves in 2011, but before he begins the new year, heג€™s getting ready to drop a new mixtape, titled Ashes to Ashes, on Christmas Eve. XXLMag.com recently spoke to the Boss about what fans could expect from the disc.

ג€œOne thing you can know is that music is all new and it may be surprising to a lot of mother****ers the kind of records we got on there,ג€ he told XXL.

Without giving away too many details, he teased some of the collaborators, saying, ג€œJust to keep it short, Meek Mill on the mixtape; Waleג€™s on the mixtape; T.I.ג€™s on the mixtape; [and] Barry Whiteג€™s on the mixtape.ג€

As previously reported, Ross is currently in talks with signing the young Philly rapper, Meek Mill to his Maybach Music imprint. ג€œMeek Mill, I see him like when it comes to his rhyminג€™ and his ability to put music together heג€™s a young Rozay,ג€ Ross said of the aspiring MC. ג€œHeג€™s one record from really being that next ***** cominג€™ outta Philly on a major scale.ג€

Like Mill, the Miami rep also confirmed with XXL that heג€™s in talks with inking Wale to Maybach Music, but nothing is signed as of yet.ג€œI just donג€™t wanna put all the details out there ג€™til we really do the announcement like bossly,ג€ he said. ג€œYou know we got to do it big, You know these my two moves for 2011. Wale he done released an album and he began his quest in the game and Meek Mill he from the ground up with it. 2011 we gonג€™ do it real big.ג€

Meek, Wale and Chester French will appear together on one track on Ashes to Ashes, that Ross says will surprise listeners. ג€œItג€™s a different type of record,ג€ he shared. ג€œItג€™s a big mother****er. We really put together cohesive and something I think the game gonna really appreciate.ג€

Wale is entertaining again. I'm not sure when this happened, I may have to do some backtracking.

I don't get why Rick Ross puts those type of records on his street albums. It's understandable when he's doing his retail song-and-dance, but on these, it doesn't make sense.

I can't be the only one skipping over all the slow shit on the Albert Anastasia EP.

Who are you talking to with those?

Can we finally dispel this myth of women enjoying the slow songs on rap records? In my experience, albiet probably a little lower class than the norm, girls were playing "Bottom of the Map in the car, not Tear It Up.

Agreed. Ross shines over more East coast sounding production, usually with a higher tempo.

Shit like "MC Hammer" or "BMF" does nothing for me.

"Knife Fight", "Mafia Music", "Usual Suspects" >>>>

This confirms what I've been suspecting for a long time. Ross is a big Bud Spencer fan.

Why do you guys listen to this Rap crap for? I mean, sure, some of the production for Rick Ross is good, but come on, Rick Ross is a fuckin JOKE! Think about it, yoar a Prison Guard and then you decide to take on the name and persona of one of the inmates in yoar prison and then you go and become this Rap star? Fuckouttahere!

Rick Ross always has been and always will be a JOKE with his whole made up lifestyle and shit. But what's funny is that the jokes really on all of you clowns who buy into that nonsense and actually support that faggit. *shaking head*

Here I am earlier tonight calling in to DJ Premier's Live From HeadQCourterz radio show and bringing up the fact that Rick Ross is a fuckin JOKE cuz of how before rap, he was working as a Correctional Officer in a Prison and one day decided to take on the persona of one of the inmates in his Prison, the REAL Rick Ross, and become a ballin rap artist. I mean shit, how fuckin lame could you be??? And when he came out, he basically tried to hide his past! Don't get me wrong, Rick Ross DOES make good "Commercial/Mainstream" type Rap music and he obviously picks good beats & can rap, but the whole made up lifestyle and what not is what makes me laugh every time I see/hear him. And for the record, I do not own and will probably never own any of his material... I'm just cool with hearing it on the radio or in a friends car or at their house or whatever. I stay reppin that real shit all day every day!

Here's the call...
<embed src="http://www.divshare.com/flash/playlist? ... 233552-00d" width="335" height="28" name="divplaylist" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashpl ... d>

The guy who called after me was kinda mad I was basically dissin Ross... hahaha

I'm getting frustrated because I can't recall what 80's (?) song Ross steals that hook from, the one that goes DO YA DO YA DO YA DO YA in stereo

I think your enthusiasm about him being a "joke" didn't exactly translate on that call. It will still cool to be able to get on that show and talk to Preem but there was definitely more "no doubts," "i know," and "cools" than anything related to your real stance.

Also I think he is right, there isn't another rapper out now that has a better ear from beats than Rick Ross.

Well, I agreed with the things they were sayin... But I'm just sayin is that to me, he IS a joke. Panchi has talked shit and made fun of Ross in the past... I listen every week. I also call the show regularly and get on air pretty much everytime I call. I always like asking specific question and bringing up certain topics.

Saw Ross live last night, he honestly puts on an incredible live show. Ace Hood is one of the best hypemen I've ever seen and it's probably the absolute livest I've ever seen a New York crowd at a rap show.

Wow, good for him. Hopefully he was tuned in to Preem's show and heard my phone call. :gyeah:

In July 2008, details linking Ross' (real name: William Leonard Roberts) social security number to a correctional officer in a Florida prison facility, along with a photograph purporting to be Ross in his correctional officer uniform. Ross initially denied that the photograph was of him; after overwhelming evidence of his past came into the public's eye, Ross later admitted that he did work as a corrections officer in Florida during the 90's. In a 2008 interview with AllHipHop.com, "Freeway" Ricky Ross, claimed offense that Roberts (rapper Rick Ross) used his name and identity.

And this is hilarious...

During a deposition of Officer Rey Hernandez, a Miami Beach police officer who arrested Ross in January 2008 on gun and marijuana charges, Ross's lawyer, Allan Zamren, asked Hernandez why Rossג€™s case was assigned to the gang task force. The officer stated that it was because Ross claimed affiliation with Carol City Cartel and other known gang members. Zamren then pressed Hernandez for a personal link between Ross and the gang members, but ultimately one could not be established.

^hahahahaha Of course there wasn't a real link to any gang cuz stupid Ross was just saying that shit to try and get some cred. hahahaha Again, he's a JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!

You do realize that 99.9% of all rappers are completely full of shit, right? Ross has made more good music than almost every rapper over the last three years and that is all that matters.
