What are the pros of this hip-hop era?

Post by blessingindisguise »

You have an abundance of tracks from mc's.

-I think Papoose and Charles hamilton have like 30 mixtapes or so. So if you're into an artist you can have more then enough tracks to choose from. Artists are regularly doing 4 to 5 mixtapes before they drop their debut.

Artists now take in consideration internet comment and feedback.

-Look no further then the Roots removing the emo pop laced "Birthday girl" with porn star vixen Sasha grey and Patrick stump from their dark dope album "Rising down". After they read/heard the feedback it was dropped off of their album regulated to a bonus track. Rick ross decided to keep "b.m.f" and "mc hammer" after the streets felt them the most on Albert anastacia. Not saying all artists do this but they take it into account.

Making more off pressing up less.

-Hopefully artists here can add some insight to this. What i've gathered in the latter 2000's is most sells are digital now as opposed to physical. Unless you got a big single or on a major with a tremendous Drake like buzz it's pointless. However i saw Blu made big moves and only pressed up 3,500 copies of "below the heavens" shame he didn't press more but he didn't know it'd be a hit. You just have to gauge.

Placements and tours off listens

-You might go wood but somewhere a video game company or company might give u a commericial placement for your material. Build up your fanbase more.

Tumblr and Twitter tell me what to like before I can make a dumb rash decision like thinking for myself. This saves tons of time. I don't even have to listen to music to become super-opinionated about it AND my opinions are broadcast to the entire world without censure. Swag.

Also, there have never been more white rappers than now.

 :gyeah:

Pro: More avenues and chances for lesser known artists to be heard.

Co-sign artists now take in consideration internet comment and feedback and your example.

More artists working together, collaborating on songs/ideas/collectives, and helping spread their music.

Thun, what happend man? You seemed so at peace with hip-hop for a month or so there. Holidays got you down?

Nah, you're right though, except for one thing...

Haha, I'm at peace with it in general but I'm still gonna rail against the massive idiocy that seems to lurk forever on the horizon.

:larry: Surely the hiphopinfinity era had many more white rappers attempting to have a career than there are now.

Uh bro, you can't sub-human and white at the same time.

whites = regular people
non whites = sub-humans

Hope this helps,

the pro of this era is simple. its mass market. hip hop has spread everywhere like somethin serious. to shopping malls in the middle of nowhere and theres a lot of money to be made cause of that. only problem because of that is if you got a real nice style that diffrent you got to keep it within the lines of whats hot. thats the con of all of this on the simple

Pro: hip hop is still alive unlike other musical genres which wouldn't have lasted this long.
Con: people like the one who started this thread pollute us with their opinions.
