A League of Our Own Vol. 3

Post by Philaflava »

For those that do not know, I put out two compilations called A League of Our Own. Vol. 1 dropped in '02 and Vol. 2 came out in '04. Many of you will remember Vol. 2 because agent b did a killer job on it and Hasefefer mixed it. It also featured then PF members Godamus Rhyme, Supastition, Red Clay, Kimani Rogers, Kno, Tonedeff and PackFM.

Itג€™s no secret that trying to make a profit, let alone break even on CD pressings these days are practically impossible. Itג€™s even more impossible should the album be a compilation, so I will not be pressing this up, at least not at this time.

I started out with so many underground/indie people and Iג€™ve seen most of them fade away. Many retired, still discouraged and some flat out broke. The passion remains though. So I am really considering doing Volume 3, which Iג€™d like to release this spring. Between the talent on the board and across the internet I know I can put together an impressive showcase.

If you are seriously interested in submitting material for this project please let me know. Do not send me any MP3s at this time. Right now I just want to gauge the level of interest and gather more information before I proceed with this. Iג€™ll be reaching out to artists Iג€™ve worked with in the past as well so please understand while this might be another Philaflava compilation, it will not be a ג€œmessage boardג€ compilation. I want to feature talent on this board, especially since we have so much but this wonג€™t be limited to just PF members.

What Iג€™ll be looking for is a custom or exclusive track for this compilation. No previously released material please. If youג€™re not an artist but would like to offer up some help with the graphic design Iג€™d be grateful as well. Iג€™m looking into the ג€œbandcampג€ idea but Iג€™d only do it if I could work out an arrangement that is fair to the contributing artists. If not, the album will be available for free download.

Post, PM or email Philaflava@gmail.com if youג€™re interested.

Down for graphic design. Don't think I'm on "the level" to contribute music.

I will give you an exclusive song for this project.
You're in Heaven right now, God.

Just so you know I'm not looking for a "name." I put on people I had NO clue about like Red Clay or Flii Stylz. Not many people knew who Godamus Rhymes was either. I'm all about top quality on this.

you should go bandcamp either way imo, it just looks more professional and generally competent than dropping a limelinx link

Something is wrong with the forum software. Mindbender's post went where Chance's is supposed to be and vice versa.

New Supastition would be dope.
Resolved Question
Does Biggie Smalls hate HipHop???

"Shoulda been a cop, Fukc Hiphop"

I've been wondering what he meant by this.
Additional Details
Rap sucks, HipHop is better

Best Answer - Chosen by Voters
Naw, he likes hip hop and rap. He was just referring to if he hadn't started rapping he would've been a cop.
So he's cursing it, not that he doesn't like it, just for the sake of it.

To be serious- Chance's beats would more than stand up against the quality of the previous two comps (both of which are good). I haven't heard his raps enough to really judge.

I agree and it would be fitting if he appeared on volume 3 being that he was on the first two, but he officially retired.

...which would make this the perfect place for a final bow career retrospective song, no?

Tayo's the best producer on the board, hands down. He should just produce the entire fucking thing. I'm sure he could with all his boom bap throwaways.
