Beat would not have felt right on Kanye's album. Bun-B rejected this beat too.

But of course since Preemo also offer him the game changing "Let em Know " beat.

That being said this beat would decrease the overall production quality of Dark Fantasy. Good choice, Ye.
Resolved Question
Does Biggie Smalls hate HipHop???

"Shoulda been a cop, Fukc Hiphop"

I've been wondering what he meant by this.
Additional Details
Rap sucks, HipHop is better

Naw, he likes hip hop and rap. He was just referring to if he hadn't started rapping he would've been a cop.
So he's cursing it, not that he doesn't like it, just for the sake of it.

Yeah, he had better beats on Blaq Poet's album that would've fit Ye honestly.

DJ Premier's general sound has been old for 7-8 years now.

He's been straight up trash for 3-4 years.

Move on.

^ His sound's been a bit stagnant for a few years now, but to call it trash is crazy talk.

Good thing he's working with powerhouse MCs like Nick Javas. Hip hop will be saved in under six months.

Nah chill I ain't sayin' that. I definitely agree that his quality of beats has significantly dropped. And the people he's worked with has ALWAYS been suspect.

But to call his beats trash is a little hyperbolic.

Shitty clicky snares and lack of hi-hats aside, this beat is cool to me. Kanye would have sounded good over it.

nah man. just when I thought DJ Premier lost his spot in at least the top 10 or top 5, he did that shit with REKS

this beat is pretty good.

but HELLLL YEAH this beat would have been the fucking worst on Kanye's album. it sure is not on the level of RZA's 'Dark Fantasy' beat...

to me premier is not stagnant, he just has a discernable style. on top of that rappers want 'a premier beat,' so they'll choose something that sounds characteristic of him especially if they're just getting one beat.

for example cormega's first premier beat was dirty game, which sounded pretty typical (i love this song though). Then the next one he buys is "make it clear," which is less textbook premier. AZ chooses the "come up" beat, which sounds like every other premier beat, then "the format" which doesn't sound like anything else.

even when i hear a typical premier beat i enjoy it, and when i hear some other shit it's usually dope. the beat you posted sounds a little off to me, drums expecially, you sure it's not an imitation?
1. Nas
2. Drake

that's pretty much it fam.

this beat with a scratch chorus would be raw. i dunno what the fuck yall are talkin about. primo needs to just stop fuckin with these weak mc's and stay in the lab with quality.

^FOH, the beat is bland as fuck. Going from 'Above the Clouds' to this is pretty much a travesty.

If this beat would've been on Kanye's album, you would love it.

This beat sounds ok to me, if it had some change ups, and ever got finished. It would have fit in on Dark Fantasy if they fleshed it out with some strings and 8 or 9 vocalists.

Every beat on MBDTF is better than this, by far.

Beat is nice. not sure it would fit the Kanye album but I like it way better than the majority of the music on there.
