Let's make March the month where we don't discuss the anticipation of backlash of rappers in M2C. That would be dandy.

Yeah. I like Yelawolf's album (much more than Saigon's for that matter). Besides G.O.O.D. tracks I have heard to little from CyHi to really comment.
Resolved Question
Does Biggie Smalls hate HipHop???

"Shoulda been a cop, Fukc Hiphop"

I've been wondering what he meant by this.
Additional Details
Rap sucks, HipHop is better

Best Answer - Chosen by Voters
Naw, he likes hip hop and rap. He was just referring to if he hadn't started rapping he would've been a cop.
So he's cursing it, not that he doesn't like it, just for the sake of it.

good luck with that. internet hip hop fans can't breathe without backlashing artists they used to like.

I think you missed the point. More so than actual backlashing, people here play armchair A&R and spend an enormous amount of time predicting, bitching about, or encouraging potential backlash.

the amount of people on here who think they're some sort of A&R/industry expert is amazing.
That said, they probably know more than anyone who's compiled this lsit for XXL.

The notion of a backlash is brought up more often than negative comments are made about generally well-liked artists here. There are also more people insisting that backlashes occur than people engaging in any negative talk of any artist. The concept of a backlash might actually be more popular and more frequently discussed than any given artist, actually.

Top Five Emcees

1. Backlash
2. Nicki Minaj
3. Waikikki Flickr Flame
4. Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All With Kindness
5. Eyedea

What's considered backlash is usually just calling out promising mc's on their failure to live up to their potential. We'll accept that a rapper isn't the finished product when we first hear him and we give him the benefit of doubt if there's something there, if he doesn't improve he loses that advantage. This is of course mostly in reference to newer rappers.

I have never heard of that Cyhi guy but the sentiment, concept and chorus of "Go Outside" are great.

Seriously, that song is great, obvious jeeziness aside.

There's always that sense of embarrassment when I tell one of my teachers (or pretty much anyone) that I listen to rap, all because of the automatic association with the retardedness of most rap.

I love rap, I do, it's awesome. It just sucks that that Mac Miller dude has 1,951,368 (and counting) views of that damn video.

LOL@ that "Knock Knock" video consciously and successfully enacting the Elvis dilution/deracination that everyone was accusing Eminem and Vanilla Ice of attempting to do. I hope this kid gets early onset Lou Gherig's disease and dies tomorrow.

Good, maybe it's symptomatic of a fatal palsy. Of course if he does die, this thread will be promptly locked for a lack of sensitivity, but that's a small price.

yeah but what's the fucking good of all the genius armchair Super Bowl rap quarterbacks saying all the things that need to happen to save it from self-destruction, but not actually CONTRIBUTING to any artist, the industry, or hip hop culture in general? writing one post of a good idea isn't even on the level of making one wack MP3 that nobody will listen to in 2 days, LOL

yeah i heard 2 songs from Mac Miller and was like "NO FUCKING WAY IS THIS GUY THE NEXT BIG ANYTHING"

NO way. straight white Wiz Khalifa steez: hype off hype fumes, nothing more. not a real lyricist or a witty rapper carving out a new lane. just like a watered down version of Asher Roth, with even less wit, and Asher Roth is lucky to have enough buzz for a sophomore album to be made. it will be like Kid Cudi's sophomore: it exists, but not many people really care about it.

there are lots of better MCs than these guys. Yelawolf and maybe 2 more will have a future worth listening to. The rest? buh bye
