Southern Rapper named Skipp Coon...and it's fire?

I was skeptical...

...but this is pretty undeniable.

I haven't had this good a week of new rap music since I copped Pilot Talk, Marcberg and the last Big Boi on the same day.

Dude's from new orleans, right?

Oh nevermind. Says he's from Jackson, MS. I know some New Orleans rappers that talk to him on twitter.

It's okay to listen to rappers who don't skateboard.

Word. The whole EP is supposed to be inspired by the movie and there are more samples and references to be found.

Finally got around to peeping this and was blown away. Checked out Network on Netflix last week...great movie that was sampled perfectly for this project.

This is definitely the best hip hop release I've heard this year and I'm eager to hear more from Skipp. The guest spots were all pretty dope too.

This line gives you a lil background to how his steez was probably developed. I guess kinda similar to Jay Elec in that he comes from the south but was influenced more by traditional hip hop, but Skipp stays truer to the southern sound (specifically because of his drawl).-

Yeah Eightball and MJG's legacy is far more respectable than Common's at this point.

"comin out hard" is probably one of the most influential rap album of all time.

True, I'm more referring to the comparison in a time capsule in Skipp Coon's environment growing up. Like you mentioned on TROY how De La almost forces fans to cut social strings because their music was so strange and layered, everyone liked 8-Ball & MJG down south, but liking Common growing up in Mississippi had to have been a challenge and Skipp is clearly someone who likes his music to be challenging.
