I was lucky enough to be in the studio because my friend is the producer.

She's gonna sort out an mp3 off the boards.

The difference between his voice on that studio cut Rhymin Slang and the live recording of Winter Blues

<object width="560" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/7bfMQteuzLE?ve ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/7bfMQteuzLE?ve ... n_US&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="560" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

leads me to believe that his vocals are being over-engineered for the record. I feel like this is happening to a lot of cats these days and it sucks.

Has a song called "STILL KAPS" that "features" Khujo Goodie...DOOM doesn't rap on it.

not to derail but since obvsly DOOM fans are here, make sure not to miss this Earthquake and DOOM demo from 94, i never heard of this joint in my life and it's pretty ill:
http://dirtywaters.blogspot.com/2012/08 ... -doom.html
I'd say that's most likely a DOOM beat from that time, right between KMD and MF when he was really crafting his new style. So dope, imo.

My review for those who like to read my thoughts on shit. I think the album is pretty darn good. Not on par with his very best, but a lot better than his middle of the road shit.

geedorah is a raw masterpiece.. to put it in the same category as vv2 is ridiculous

gheedora is hard to rank since it's more of a producer driven album than a proper doom solo.... but still, it's nowhere near the bottom of the list with vv2

Album was years ahead of its time on the production tip too.

The point I was making was much more about legitimacy than it was quality anyway. Geedorah was essentially a M.I.C. album, but it was promoted as a DOOM project. VV2 was a bunch of throwaway verses shared with a bunch of producers completely undeserving of the project, a fake follow-up. Whether you enjoyed either project for what it was is really beside the point. They weren't legit DOOM albums.

king geedorah was a legit doom project, and king geedorah will eventually return more powerful than EVER!

He barely rapped on it. And the songs that were on their with his raps had been previously released. Feel free to make a King Geedorah appreciation thread, shit was not a DOOM album, it was M.I.C. with DOOM on the boards. You can love the shit out of it, but it wasn't what a lot of people, including a lot of this forum, expected at that time. You all are being the revisionists here, not me.

It's kind of like saying a Think Differently project is a legit Wu-Tang album.

I remember being extremely disappointed when i copped the Gheedora album when it dropped. and so was everyone i knew who was a doom fan at that time.
Over time it grew on me, pause, there's joints, but i still don't count it as a full DOOM album. It was him on the beats putting his boys on.
VV2 I think i skimmed through it a few times trying to find something to like but the beats were so butt i never gave it a full listen. I wasn't even really a big VV fan at the time either, I want DOOM verses over at least mostly DOOM beats.

I've given this new one a listen once so far and am not excited at all about it. Some of the beats are cool but most i don't like off one listen.
But like i said I've only given it one full listen and it hasn't been long enough to let it soak in for me to give a real commentary yet.

indeed. i consider it a legit doom project for many reasons, but these two reasons help solidify it's legitimacy the most:
1)DOOM has performed songs from the album at live shows. He probably performs at least one of them at every live show. http://goo.gl/MrgRH
2)Beats used on the King Geedorah album are on various Special Herbs albums.

Those two things can't be said about VV2, and as far as illegitimate DOOM albums go, I'd imagine VV2 is the only one.

i dont remember ever thinking geedorah wuz gunna be anything cept for what it was. doom beats with him and other cats rappin on it. mic cats is only on 2 songs wtf ru talkin about? and it has a bunch of doom verses it aint like he is only on 2 or 3 joints, the whole album is only 40 mins first off and he rappin on like half of it or more. and you sayin fazers, monster zero, fine print, no snakes alive and the final hour all came out before? when and where?

nah fam. geedorah is exactly what i was expectin and was flames. if cats aint do their research before they went to cop it thats on them. comparin it to vv2 the actual defenition of a bait n switch is just way off

so i listened to this jj doom album a few times over last night. There's definitely some joints, i only really dislike a few songs because of the shitty artsy dancey sounding beats. Gonna give it some more listens tonight and separate whats good from what sucks.

he has way better material but i'm sure doom picked the beats..

i was hoping the album would sound more
