Dope album. I kinda get the production beefs. JJ's production was better on the Shape of Broad Minds album.
Doom delivers lyrically.

Was in town on Saturday night and DOOM was meant to be DJing at the place we were at - he sent a DOOMPOSTER though! I felt truly blessed. Crowd wasn't too impressed.

Can't believe he's still doing that imposters shit.

Read somewhere:

MF DOOM DOOM done did it again. This past weekend in London, the MC born Daniel Dumile was scheduled to perform at Livin' DOOM, an event organized by the Livin' Proof Crew. However, it seems that one half of Madvillain sent out some other dude in his place to perform . To his credit, the artist has long kicked some spiel about the trademark mask he is known for being DOOM. But whatever, people paid their loot to see the real deal, not a doppelgänger.

Livin' Proof released a statement detailing the events, and they are clearly not pleased:

To everyone who came down to our Livin' DOOM event on Saturday and are questioning whether that was the real DOOM – we are in the same position as you. We had a legitimate contracted gig from his official booking agent and were in contact throughout the booking process with his US management, and label. We were even talking and working with the promoters of DOOM's forthcoming London live shows in October and November.

As far as we were concerned, the real DOOM was going to appear… we received news from DOOM's management on the morning of the gig that DOOM wanted more money or he would not show up. This show was done and intended as a very special and intimate show which was not about making money but putting on an incredible party in a very small capacity venue. As we wanted the show to go ahead and was left to ransom to this extortionate request, we agreed this even though this was a breach of our agreed contract. In hindsight, we should have cancelled the show then and there…

At 9.30pm after we had open the doors, we were told by management that he would appear but would not DJ and was just going to sign autographs. We said this was unacceptable as we had agreed and paid for a DJ set… 10 minutes later we received a call saying that he would DJ… Or that's what we were led to believe.

As many of the people in the venue noticed, there is a very strong possibility the person that was finally sent down was not DOOM himself.

Doing this show has taught us a lot about how some artists operate and how they feel they can treat others and, most importantly, their fans. As fans of DOOM ourselves, this has left a very sour taste in our mouth.

Anyone who has been to Livin' Proof parties always know that we do our utmost to provide the best quality show and we are so sorry for anyone who came down and were disappointed by the DJ set from the artist supposedly meant to be DOOM.

We will do our utmost to make this up to anyone who purchased a ticket for this event. We paid the fee upfront to Daniel Dumile's bank account and have the receipts to prove this. We will be seeking legal advice and are doing our best to get his show fee refunded from DOOM and his management and will then take suitable steps after this action.

All the best,
Livin' Proof Crew.

How have promoters not put a "Danielle Dumile will show up, not some other retard, or we'll sue the fuck outta you" clause in any contract associated with Doom? Retarded shit from everyone involved.

Doom sounds like a complete cunt. Livin Proof and any other promoter should sue the shit out of him.

I think thats kind of the point. The statement released by the promoters suggests otherwise though.

6 Videos of DOOM Imposters Performing In Concert.

This past weekend hip-hop fans in London learned firsthand that DOOM (a/k/a M.F. Doom) may be reviving his old trick of sending masked imposters to perform at gigs in his place. Promoters of the club night “Livin’ Proof” apparently have no concrete proof that the real deal DOOM showed up for the DJ gig he was booked for, but they strongly suspect that the metal faced fellow who appeared was a phony. Of course, this would be far from the first time a fake DOOM, or DOOMposter, took it to the stage, as DOOM’s always relished any chance to enhance his bad guy notoriety with such antics (“Everything that we do is villain style,” DOOM once famously told Rolling Stone of the practice). Peep these half dozen videos of DOOM trickery from over the years, and see if they don’t stand up to the definition, Super Villain.

1. Rock the Bells - New York, NY, 7.29.07.

Flagrant lip syncing sank this M.F(ugazy). Doom (check the 1:20 mark). The sound man stage right, for one, does not look pleased.
UPDATE: The folks at Nature Sounds are telling us this is actually the real DOOM. Whoever it is still seems to be lip syncing. Damn DOOM’s hall of mirrors!!!

2. MJQ Concourse - Atlanta, GA, 12.13.07.
After this particular show, the promoter allegedly posted on his myspace page: “By far one of the single worst experiences I’ve had as a club promoter.” But he sounded just like he does on the record!

Rock the Bells - San Bernadino, CA, 8.9.08.
The crowd is maaad heated (“Ay, you really fucked up – I ain’t buyin’ no CDs no more!”) after a lengthy delay, exacerbated when “DOOM’s” DJ experiences technical difficulties.

4. Beat Club, Los Angeles, CA, 11.21.09.
Mayhem in the dark. A voice in the crowd yells, “Fuckin’ SAY SOMETHING!” Yes, the quality on this video sucks. Though probably not as much as the show itself.

Congress Theater - Chicago, IL, 2.13.10.
Mos Def was on the bill for this show and is seen performing in a DOOM-esque mask. Fake DOOM footage starts around 2:20; crowd seen hurling shit onstage around 2:50. Audience member: “This shit’s terrible.”

Kool Haus - Toronto, Canada, 2.25.10.

A fake DOOM starts the show. Here we go again, right? BUT WAIT – here comes the real DOOM. Just goes to show you – ya never know…

Dude is just a fucking clown. Grown man running around in a mask that wouldnt have looked out of place in an early 90s WWF show. Probably secretly wants to be in Daft Punk or something.

So, I've had the album about three weeks and, while I think Doom's great on it and I don't mind the samples in the beat or their bizarre patterns (which allow for Doom to perform some of his most interesting flows since Madvillainy), I have to ask, are the drums super light and bass almost non-existant for anyone else? I'm basing this off hearing just the promo copy Lex sent me, but the vocals seem to be overpowering everything else on the record.

this is exactly what i meant when i said beats sounded thin. i thought it might've been an issue with the stream or the leak, but if that's how the official cd sounds then it just makes the album that much more dissapointing
