need help conceptualizing live set up

so i ditched the guitar amp about two years ago
i now go straight into the mixer or into a DI to the main board
fuck hauling around an amp when im performing electronic music behind two guys with mpc's, midi controllers, kaoss pads and other electronic doohickeys

but i just received a mini-kaoss pad to mount onto one of my guitars
problem is, i cant have it on all the time because it tends to suck tone from my other effects settings (or so ive heard)
it's also battery operated, so...

i also perform using some of the synth apps on the ipad, i normally use a secondary DI for that input, but im finding that more and more of a pain in the ass from the soundman's point of view

i never play both the guitar and the ipad together, unless of course im utilizing one of the guitar apps on the ipad

so here is what i have and the connections they offer

guitar - 1/4" out
effects processor - l/r stereo or mono 1/4" out
ipad - by itself 1/8" out
or
ipad with guitar dongle called "iRig" - 1/4" in, 1/8" out
Kaoss pad - stereo RCA in, stereo RCA out

if i want to be able to:
play guitar with just the effects processor
AND
play guitar with the effects processor AND run it through the kaoss BEFORE the DI
AND play the ipad synth apps

how should i set that up?
where should i place A/B boxes?
is this a situation that deserves an A/B/Y box?

any help would be greatly appreciated
