Curren$y & Alchemist - "Covert Coup" EP

Post by claaa7 »

this 10 tracks mini album just dropped today, entirely produced by Alchemist. listening to it right now and the beats are straight up amazing so far (i'm on track #5) and it has features from Prodigy and Freddie Gibbs. definitely worth checking out for any fan of Alc. the link is everywhere, you can go to 2dopeboyz or visit my blog (in my sig) or wherever.

it's dope artists drop free shit like this and still brings out a quality product, i mean Alchemist is a very respected producer and to record almost an entire album with him and then just give it out for free? wow. good promotion tho of course but if they had recorded three more songs this would probably sell quite a bit.

also reminds me that Fashawn did a 20 minute tape as a prelude to "Boy Meets World" that was entirely produced by Alchemist and also dope.

Enjoying this. None of the leaked tracks stood out to me, but they work really well in context with the other tracks. Pretty cool they just released this for free and I like the new cover as well.

i say start with Pilot Talk I & II and then you can kinda pick and choose what else you want to hear...nothing else has really stood out to me as much as those two projects and now this one.

I'll cosign this, I would've cut about 3 or 4 tracks off but the best of TANM>Pilot Talk. I dig Curren$y's rapping on TANM much more than what he did on Pilot Talk as well.

dead ass, been saying this since pt1 first dropped - his rapping on there is a bit awkward and kinda tentative, like he didn't really feel comfortable with ski and co yet. he is much better on pt2

which isn't to say pt1 isn't also a good album worth your time, it definitely is. it's just a little shy of the others mentioned

The production shines much more on the Pilot Talk releases than TANM.

I'm not fronting though, I celebrate his entire catalog.

I have listened to this new one 3 times so far today. I haven't done that with and album in a long time. Beats and rhymes are both stellar on this.

yeah i agree, the overall sound of the projects make me like them more. This Aint No Mixtape still has joints i listen to but not as much as the PT series

This is probably the best album I've listened to from Curren$y.

True. I've only listened to Winner's Corner and Pilot Talk 2....once each time. I guess I just wasn't into it at the time. I'm way out of line here.

I think what makes this album really good to me is that I like Alchemist's production.

I know Curren$y's got a lot more albums out there, do you recommend an album i should listen to? I guess I could shut my mouth and go listen to Pilot Talk 2 again...?

Wow, Gibbs devastated him on that track. I didn't realize it before on laptop speakers but man, that was a roasting. Funny, usually Gibbs sounds weak on collabs and I am a fan of his stuff.

Lyrically, I feel like this is more uneven that PT2. Not delivery wise, but the actual lyrics. That said, the songs like BBS where he is really writing are nuts.

I like the use of short songs too.
