Even still, there's a lot for this mane, his partner in production, and the criminally under-rated CMLK crew to be proud of with Mista Thug Isolation. They've repped their home city of Richmond, VA and their philosophically raw brand of style-hopping rap hard with the first great non-instrumental tape of their clique. The guy who plays Lil' Ugly Mane has a notable history in the city operating a now-defunct DIY artspace/venue, making waves with his old solo harsh noise project, and scoring laughs with a now-removed viral video (sorry, keeping his identity a mystery will be more fun for everyone). Though that backstory used to seem like a novelty, his conceptual art background makes odd sense given how he illuminates his character here, and motivates Shawn Kemp -- perhaps the most MC-craving beatsmith of the CMLKers -- to make the hardest beats he ever has in tribute to something they all love: good ol' hardcore hip hop.
Ironically, blastmaster said SGP was the one who might be too hipsterish. The fact that the article picks out "No Slack in My Mack" as a weak point of the album disturbs me.
I dont agree that running a DIY and making harsh noise records equates being hipsterish. Im basing that off what you highlighted and may be confused.
idk that does seem kinda hipsterish but pretty sure with this guy it's just a coincidence.

I think he meant that SGP has more appeal to a hipsterish audience in spite of LUM being the more hipsterish of the two.

So, yeah, there's really no reason for any of this crew to exist.

Shit is the 2012 equivalent of Ultra '88 by Edan.

This stroke of genius was posted to steadybloggin last Friday:

<object width="560" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/tEa8A5uI3MQ?ve ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/tEa8A5uI3MQ?version=3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="560" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

From what I can gather, this kid is like 18, from the DC Maryland area, in a clique called Terrorist Gang that's down with Raider Klan and SGP, and he raps and directs/edits videos. I can't really mess with his rhymes, but his editing game is on point. It looks like he did the joint below also.

"ten toes down" (a ten wanted men memphis classic album) just been remastered and reissued... this is probably what you should listen to.

Not that everybody in here hasn't already checked the album by now, but I did a review if anybody is interested or wants to pass along to anybody: http://wp.me/p2g5mN-3d

B. Ware tha Siniq wrote:the album suffers from one particular fault it might be that at 18 tracks, plus two bonus tracks, it stands at over 75 minutes in length. Without clearly identifiable filler, itג€™s hard to enjoy the whole album in one sitting, unless you have a particularly long commute, or a nice stretch of downtime at work.
mostly listen to this album as a therapeutic while at work.

Ugly did something to his bandcamp page. Its just a loop of a Montgomery Schuler quote about Bridges.

probably just being a weirdo. im sure they go back up soon enough. I bought them shits back when. He may have took them down about to release his tapes.

http://30.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lxpzl ... 1_1280.jpg

so cheap to get a decent run of tapes made now days. I had some made for my band and it only set us back about $1.50 a tape so it wasnt shit to give them away or sell them for $5.00 with a free download card.
