Songs About Going Pop and Falling Off
Inspired by the other thread.
Songs which depict falling off, first or third person, not songs that merely criticize the concept.
Blackalicious "Deception"
De La Soul "Fallin"
J-Live "Them That's Not"
Chino XL "It's All Bad"
Add on.

How many cats you know speak the illegit rhyme after rhyme diligent?
85 percent represent ignorant
Either you innocent or guilty
Some of my favorite emcees fell off
It damn near killed me
Lookin' at the kids that was true hip-hop
Nowadays them cats don't even do hip-hop
Rap got 'em brainwashed with cash that don't last
And five minutes of fame
That's when it's a shame
Seein real emcees tryin' to imitate rappers
If you ask me they goin' out ass backwards
Tradin' in respect to push a fat Lex
Puff rhymin' on the remix, what's next?
It hurt so bad I wanna smack 'em
My favorite crew members break up turn around and join wack ones
This is dedicated to you hip-hop hypocrites
Droppin' wack songs like you don't give a shit
I ain't got nothin' against nobody tryin' to make a decent living
It ain't the money that's the issue
Only if that's the reason why these cats ain't makin' decent music
That's when I got beef with you
And I'ma break it you like never
Go ahead, call me player hater if it make you feel better
Try to jump my crew if you cats feel foggy
You need to wake up and smell the damn coffee

I'm pretty sure you're talking about "Deception" there.Thun wrote:Blackalicious "Deception"
I like Philly basketball, Boston baseball, and New York rap.

Big Daddy Kane - Who Am I? is a song where he takes you through his life up to the point he actually admits when he went pop and fell off. He mentions Young MC too

Word, I forgot about this because the first verse is on some knowledge of self tip, and then the song has that weird cameo verse by Malcolm X's daughter.fatboybrandon wrote:<object width="425" height="349"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/bjlrteCKfgU?ve ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/bjlrteCKfgU?ve ... n_US&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="349" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

I thought, and still think that Gamilah Shabazz verse is kinda weird too. I think Kane did a good job in his writing on Who Am I?, it wasn't a blatant attack at selling out but rather an honest story about his own life so I appreciate the song still today.

One of my favorites off Stunts Blunts, I remember when the album dropped I used to play it repeatedly.
