Aceyalone - "Pray For Rain"

Post by ardamus »

I know I know....we've discussed what he's done on the reggae and doo-wop albums but one thing you can't deny is that he has put out bangers before. And this is proof that he still can regardless of the usual :phila: opinion. Came out earlier this year but I figured I'd put this out there for you guys to check out.

No more blues, reggae, RJD2 or easy listening remakes. He needs to stay in this lane.

MP3 anyone?

click on the arrow, gloss, and an option to download should come up.

will never understand the hate for what he did with RJD2, thought that album was pretty good. the reggae and doo wop stuff is another story......

Me neither. Him and RJD2 had good chemistry.

^^ because unintentionally, RJ taugh Acey how to be experimental, almost too much. It was the start of breaking bad, word to Walt.

Moonlit Skies is the shit though.

Well, if you want to go that route of saying producers were making him experimental, you might as well include Mumbles in that when they did The Book Of Human Language. Or Elusive when he did that album Hip Hop And The World We Live In. You see what I mean? Acey has always been experimental and done different shit. The last of it being in a certain lane where it didn't get to be too much was with RJD2, IMO.

Book of Human Language is the only solo Acey album worth anything.

This is 10 years too late.

The only agenda governing music listening should be the quality of the music. This song is okay.

It has its moments, but this is where Aceyalone starts to run out of things to say and loses focus.

It made me wish he worked some more with Joey Chavez and Evidence. Thought "Microphones" w/PEACE was a real good track.

eh...some of my favorite acey songs are on that record...rappers, rappers, rappers, alive, five feet, title track, project blowed song...

i dug the approach a lot...i thought it was not running out of things to say as much as becoming a little more accessible...i thought it was a good balance

i wore this song out, too.

"Pray For Rain" kind seems like its a return to this sound. Definitely think he should work Evidence again. Or shit, even Zavala would be a good fit.

Me neither. Him and RJD2 had good chemistry.

blueprint and rj have good chemistry. acey bought a bunch of bargain bin, throw-away beats and tried to make an album from them.

new track is solid if unspectacular, but it's easily the best thing i've heard from him in forever. i'll shut up now.

see, i kinda disagree with the throw away beats part. rj more than likely tried to cater to his style from his point of view. i do agree that rj and blueprint had better chemistry which is obvious.

I prefer this new Freestyle Fellowship track:

http://soundcloud.com/deconrecords/free ... hip-we-are

just realized for the first time, that an embedded song doesn't show up in the preview...hopefully this works:

The reggae and doo wop ish was indefensible, but there's no denying Acey is capable of dope music.

His early stuff is the best, though I liked Accepted Electic a lot. Love & Hate had some dope stuff on it. The music he's done with Ab-Rude as the A-Team is nice as well. I like the RJD2 joint. Never understood the hate.

Dope track.
