hemol wrote:Hey folks so I got some pretty cool stuff coming out on Rad Reef pretty soon. First I'm doin a Main Attrakionz tape. It features two songs produced by me, and 2 songs produced by Jel. Some time after that it is very likely that there will be a Nosdam remix of the two tracks I produced.

To me, this is a very potent collaboration. It crosses 2 very distinct generations of rap. And if you've been keeping up with Noah23 then you probably saw his collabs with my homies Sortahuman. Again, trans-generational collabs. But, unlike a lot of the stiff and contrived dream collaborations we know from the past, these collabs seem to be entirely fruitful. And the overlap of different modalities truly yields compelling results both for fans of the old and fans of the new. These trans-generational collabs create a space where fans of both ends of the spectrum convene and recognize their similarities.

Basically I'm just really excited about all of this stuff, and I hope that other people are as well, and I'm wondering if anyone else thinks about this stuff. I know Mondre and Squadda don't know cLOUDDEAD, or Anticon, so saying that they're influenced by it wouldn't be entirely correct. Yet, without Anticon I don't know that any of this stuff from the new Wave could have existed.

No. That would be Juelz Santana and Cam'Ron trading verses on a Buck 65 instrumental, rapping about veganism and the evils of the Catholic church. This will have to do for now though...

There are no beats, faggot. It's a cassette tape Dose put together. It's a hodgepodge of "found sounds" and ominous-sounding synthtone samples and shit. I don't know what you're listening to, Gay Day.

Odd Nosdam did shit more so for Green Think and cLOUDDEAD right? I do remember Slow Death just mainly being Dose One. Wouldn't doubt it if Odd Nosdam helped out a little.

Squadda B's Back $ellin Crack tape has a song that samples Fleetwood Mac's "Landslide".

does this count as trans-generational collaborating?
discuss.
