I've said it once. I'll say it again. Jay-Z signed Jay Electronica so that he could keep dude on the shelf, thus preventing middle-aged women in Kentucky from buying the wrong CD for their kids by accident.

what does this guy do in his life?

he's a rapper with presumably no day job that doesn't rap.

I imagine him sitting around the house watching maury and getting allowances from Badu which he uses for bimonthly trips to Nepal.

I'm sure Roc Nation gave him and advance and Badu has saved a pretty penny. Plus Andre's alimony checks help out.

act II hasn't even come out yet.

jay aggravates the fuck out of me. so much talent. i still blast exhibit c when it comes and remember hearing it leak for the first time in october 2009 and thinking jay was going to come pull the rug out from every rapper doing it.

he lives in london now. once a month he'll tweet something. generally "are you watching close?" or "act II: the patents of nobility" without any new music. he has invited people from twitter over for listening sessions.

i can't listen to the song he did with mobb deep last year the beat is too bad.

^WHAT A PERFECTLY REASONABLE REASON TO NOT LIKE A PERSON'S MUSIC! I HATE MOUNTAIN DEW TOO!

I can't tell if Zombie genuinely thinks he's a shitty rapper or if he just is butthurt (like the rest of us) that he's the least prolific rapper ever .

He's on Roc Nation. He probably has about fifteen different people telling him how to make his music now. He's stated multiple times, that the album is complete. It's clearly not him holding anything up. I imagine the album is super artsy, and Jay-Z and the mountain climbing A&R's who play electric guitars, that work for Jay-Z, are waiting on him to deliver a song that can perform well on radio. Which is a shame, because "Exhibit C" would have never come out if it was handed in as a single.

He is an amazing rapper. Maybe he is taking his time because he knows how great the album is going to be.

Are we seriously complaining about an album taking one year to complete? Every other post on this site is about how hip-hop is disposable and no one seems to want to perfect their music anymore. I hope he is working hard on it, and actually spends a year or two making a truly unforgettable classic.
