Blockhead thread ("Funeral Balloons" dropped 9/8/17))

Post by Blockhead »

I figure since I'm gonna have a productive year and don't really wanna make like 4 different threads to promote my shit, I'll just do one. Can I live?

Anyway, I guess I'mma just keep throwing shit in here.
As for upcoming projects:

my new solo album "interludes after midnight" is dropping in april.
Illogic and I have like 30 plus songs recorded and will be dropping a free ep soon, as well as maybe two other ep's leading into our full length album together "Capture the sun"
I'm also working on music with Open Mike Eagle, Billy Woods and Marq Spekt in the near future. Definitely really excited about all three of those projects.

I know you like (mostly) free shit so have at some of this random shit:

Here's a remix I did for PremRock and Willie green (feat. Has-lo)
http://phatfriend.com/2012/02/28/peep-t" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... x-i-did-2/

Here's a free song Illogic and I did:
http://phatfriend.com/2011/12/21/free-s" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... ic-and-me/

Here's a video of The mighty jones (the group I'm in with a female vocalist and some musicians( "recording" a song
http://phatfriend.com/2012/02/22/the-mi" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... dio-video/

Here's a remix i did for Emancipator
http://phatfriend.com/2011/06/21/peep-t" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... ancipator/

Here's a random free beat
http://phatfriend.com/2011/12/09/a-beat" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... e-the-cut/

Here's a nacho picasso remix I did
http://phatfriend.com/2011/10/25/peep-this-remix-i-did/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Here's a hail mary mallon remix
http://phatfriend.com/2011/10/25/peep-this-remix-i-did/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Here's a remix i did for this rock group Rival schools
http://phatfriend.com/2011/05/03/i-did-" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... s-peep-it/

Three volumes of all the non-aesop album tracks I've done over the years:
http://phatfriend.com/2010/08/25/blockh" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... uts-vol-1/
http://phatfriend.com/2010/09/02/blockh" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... uts-vol-2/
http://phatfriend.com/2010/09/08/blockh" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... uts-vol-3/

And here's a link to "the throwaway files" series , which is all old beats I can't use anymore that I'm giving away. There are 15 volumes in all but the new ones are more recent beats so, you know, they're better....
http://phatfriend.com/?s=throwaway+files&submit=Search" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Okay? okay. I hope you enjoy at least some of this shit.

Hopefully will be posting in this thread again very soon.

Great thread idea, I have most of this...will check out the stuff I don't. You're working w// Spekt now too? I think I rated woods, Illogic, and Spekt as my 3 favorite MCs last year, so pretty pumped about anything you make w/ those 3.

Yeah, SPekt and I are just starting to talk. He's got some other projects in the works but he picked some beats so that's a good start.

What is Illogic's best album? I don't think I have ever heard one of his records.

I was about to say that too. It seems to be the unanimous favorite. He's got tons of dope shit though.

Awesome stuff, Block. Congrats on your career and everything bro. Once I sell a couple screenplays I'll get you to do a score for my next movie. My sister was raped a couple days ago. I'll probably write a movie about me murdering the guy who did it. In fact, I'm gonna go murder the guy that did it in a week or so. Don't worry, I'll see to it that he's tortured for many hours first.

I'm just gonna pray to the beattape gods and just hope that you like me enough, Blockhead....to do 30 to 40 songs with. If my prayers aren't answered, I'll still support your music anyway. Good shit, brotha.

How long have you been working on this project to where you have 30-40 tracks on deck?

Don't be sad. I think I know who did it. I'll send you a pm about the torture that will take place. Pretty sure I'm gonna severely cut his face and definitely cut his dick off and feed it to him. Seems like a good idea. But I'm gonna give the cops a chance to get him jailed for many years and continuously raped in prison like clockwork. Not celestial though. Devilish clockwork.

For a year or two now. It started as just one album but Illogic got crazy prolific and just started recording over everything. Now we gotta whittle down the best ones and see what we come up with.

If you can, Anthony, please try to arrange for a vinyl release sesh.

^It's a long shot. We're having a hard enough time finding people whoa actually still release music on a label, let alone press up vinyl...but I'll do my best.

No shit? I knew the environment was bad, but not that bad. Figured you'd have mad bidders for this. People would actually pay for this.

Agreed but there really aren't many people putting records out anymore. I mean, I'm not super worried about it finding a home somewhere but most of the labels we've spoken to are booked up through this entire year (release wise) so we're just gonna drop free ep's in the meanwhile.
