Yes! The album is pretty boring but I still love when he does his Pimp C impression.the dead poet wrote: "Me & My Old School" is fucking awesome

Solid output
I've only gotten to listen to it a couple of times all the way through but it just passed the blunt test, trying to see what it do in the vehicle tomorrow.
It seems to me like he kept the energy a little toned down throughout the tape and all the verses are kinda short but probably a smart move if he's really bout to drop a label backed album this summer/year.
My Old School, 4Eva Theme, Package Store, Sky Club, all very serious.

he does better in good company than by himself. if he did a producer album with a good roster of people where he did all the beats and occasional hooks but split the load of the verses with others it could be really somethingdavid111 wrote:nothing on this touches 'we buy gold' 'parked outside' 'money on the floor'

Maybe a "YO [insert here] STICK TO PRODUCIN" thread is in order?drizzle wrote:he does better in good company than by himself. if he did a producer album with a good roster of people where he did all the beats and occasional hooks but split the load of the verses with others it could be really somethingdavid111 wrote:nothing on this touches 'we buy gold' 'parked outside' 'money on the floor'
I nominate Young L, hes actually a reasonably solid & inoffensive rapper most the time and theres far worse producer/rappers but the huge amount of amazing beats hes wasted on his nondescript rapping easily makes him one of the worst offenders.

mmm... i don't think Krit is a completely bad rapper, but his super serious earnesty starts to grate on me after a while on his solo work. when he's paired with others he seems a bit looser and more relaxed, maybe simply by the virtue of having someone to offset his style

I agree. Really my problem with a lot of these dudes isnt that theyre terrible rappers, just not interesting enough solo. They should stick to the occasional verse/producing primarily for others-just cos they can go it alone doesn't mean they should.drizzle wrote:mmm... i don't think Krit is a completely bad rapper, but his super serious earnesty starts to grate on me after a while on his solo work. when he's paired with others he seems a bit looser and more relaxed, maybe simply by the virtue of having someone to offset his style
Its sorta like group-rapper syndrome ala Bun B cos I actually like Young L in the context of Pack songs. Even RZA could be a great rapping alongside others.

Not really. The first volume of See Me On Top was all Pimp C/TI biting but in a good way. I still listen to "Swagger Back" and "Private Dancer"Gyangsta 4 Life wrote:totes agree with drizzle's assessment of krit.

still don't get why people were open to him in the first place since most (all?) of the early singles he put out were of the "super earnest" breed.

'country shit' is my shit
entire 930 club lost their shit in dc when that joint dropped at the smokers club tour. it wasnt that earnest, and i think its how most of his shit should sound, but oh well. i kinda agree with this entire thread tho, but what sold me on krit early was that track, hometown hero, the dj booth jackin for beats freestyle and the old 'King' freestyle he had

First single off his album? Figured Def Jam would want him to go in this direction for his album, still though, KRIT production>>>.

Really, really dig this shit. KRIT conveys so much emotion in such a subtle way.
