Haha, the "I was gonna go, but didn't" thing? My bad, to be fair I actually go to a ton of shows, especially local ones in Chicago. The only thing is they usually tend to be metal shows. Turnout at those aren't usually very good either, even for the well known bands who tour nationally.

I saw Geti open up last year for Beans at Subterranean. Had no idea who he even was at the time but he killed it, been listening ever since.
nah i meant the rappers opening up for comedians part..but yeah that too

Not to further derail the thread, but how does that usually go? Have you seen it the other way around? Comedians opening for rappers? Didn't Hannibal open for you or something recently? In Vegas?

he was gonna jump on the open mic at this spot i was playing at but he peeped the scene and thought better of it. the comedy and rap usually works out great for me. comedy audiences tend to be open to my shit

last night hannibal started off a joke "so i was in vegas the other day"
and i interrupted "oh yeah with mike?"
he said "yes, open mike eagle. what do you read twitter or something?"
and then he picked on my girlfriend for the rest of the show.

You did the right thing by interjecting something while he was talking. You did the right thing.

What other projects are in the works? Any more Serengeti productions?

Between Nosdam, Serengeti, and I, we have the Kenny Dennis EP that just dropped on Anticon, a Serengeti LP and EP called CAR and CAB to be released before the year is over, and the new Jel LP on Anticon, [for] which Iג€™m finishing the mixes with Nosdam.

Saw an incredible Serengeti show in Indy tonight, couldn't have been more than 50 people in the house at the Jazz Kitchen but Geti did his thing, all my boys were at a Bear Hands (Indie Rock) show, but my wife loves Geti so I wasn't alone at least. Might have to catch him in Chi in Sept if possible, see him if you can, memorable shit.

Also got a copy of C.A.R., really ill album, look out for my review next week.

I really dug the album. It seems like Bukowski possessed him for this one.

This album is pretty great.

Decent and yet again kind of :owens: read here:

Yeah, especially ג€œUncle Traum.ג€ Itג€™s about a real experience where I was in the hospital two years ago, and I was under Propofol for about a week. When I came out, I was in a half-dream, half-reality world. In my dream, I met Uncle Traum, and he was this speed metal guy. But when I was not in the dream, I thought he was real. ג€¦ He got killed in a car accident, and I called the house to find out when the funeral was. But it was all in my head. I was waiting for the news to come on to talk about the death. It was Sunday, so there was no morning news. I called these people to find out when the funeral was. It turned out it wasnג€™t true. It was very strange, very intense.

I found out later that ג€œtraumג€ in German means ג€œdream.ג€ I wrote ג€œUncle Traumג€ about it.

Very interesting stuff, I assumed C.A.R. was largely fictional stories like Family & Friends but in this interview he says it's stories from his own life. I never know what to believe with this guy, makes his work a lot more intriguing. That would be crazy if his peeping tom story from "Peekaboo" was true.

Good to see him getting some love from MTV, as weird as his music is, I've always felt he should be a lot more popular than he is.

Question for the long time Geti fans,

C.A.R. is my first album of his and I'm digging it. All I really know of his other albums is that he occasionally plays different characters who resurface on different releases. Are there any such references/recurring characters on C.A.R. from his other works, or is it a pretty self-contained release?

C.A.R along with Family & Friends are for the most part self-contained. If you are going to dip back into his other stuff, I always recommend Dennehy to people, because it is my favorite, but since you started with c.a.r., I'd suggest Family & Friends and then checking out Dennehy or some of this other stuff.

Buy his stuff here:

Pre-Order the new Geti record here:

Serengeti seems excited about it plus Mike Eagle said it's one of his best. So yeah, go buy it.
