No monumental reason... The second verse is one of my favorites, if not favorite, by nas... and I actually prefer the beat... and I know I'm definitely alone on that...

regardless... both Nysoms are in my top 10 by nas if i had to make one.

No my friend you are not, NYSOM2 > NYSOM. I love the melancholy piano and Nas' verses on there supreme.

i really like NYSOM2, but comparing it to the first one is like comparing IWW to Illmatic. i.e. it's great, but it doesn't deserve to be compared to one of the best rap songs/albums ever made.

Nas' verses on there supreme.
It's one of the time post-illmatic (which is what: 18 years now??) where i feel that nas didn't try too hard or overdo it and it comes out next to perfect... and IMO he does either try too hard in the majority of his songs...

regardless... if i find myself somewhere talking about nas... and that never happens... i wouldn't argue with anyone who likes nysom1 over nysom2

Nice to see "A Bird in the Hand" get some love. I totally forgot about that one. Such an ill track.

Jay-Z "Hey Papi"
everything that was good about jay-z in one song

Biggie "My Downfall"
Big is solid if unremarkable on this but puff delivers one of the best vocal performances in rap history.

LL Cool J "It Gets No Rougher"
Best song off one of the most underrated raps albums ever. Prime LL + Bomb Squad.

The rest of my choices were obvious/boring and not worth posting.

best goats song is '7 Cumin' in Ya Ear'

I'll never forget when i saw the goats at 7th street entry. it was 1995 and I was about to witness my idols perform. well their gear failed and they did the set virtually acoustic. me and the other half dozen people didn't let the lack of synth drums bother our signing of 'philly blunts'

it took me months to admit that no goats no glory sucked and i need to stop trying to find their political message coded in the lyrics of 'wake and bake'

Hey, by the way who's Curt?
