One of my best friends still checks for battle PPVs. He ordered this and a few of us went over to his place for some bbq, brews, and this. Didn't stay past the passwurdz battle or however its spelled. Most of what I saw was really quite garbage. Even the andy millinokis (again, sp?) cameo by way of spur-of-the-moment interview was super depressing. I thought it was julia sweeney under there. Plus the sound effed up and they lost about an hour. What is a hip-hop event of any caliber if there isn't some kind of encumbrance, right?

The only highlights for me were the kreuger vs. thesaurus bout and that one promotional battle with the other british guy.

to be honest, most other KOTD events I go to seem to turn out notably better.

they did their thing, though, and made their mark, for better or worse. It was cool having DJ Docta there, playing the same kinds of classic 90's golden era rap songs that they play between battles up here in Toronto, but some of the chaos detracted from the overall event. It happens up here sometimes too. it just seemed crazier in L.A. :kanyeshrug:

the show was much too imbalanced. everyone was WAAAY too focused on the Canibus/Dizaster battle, and few paid much mental energy to the other (varyingly DOPE to average) battles, which in hindsight, delivered much more of an equal battle and less disappointment and insanity, etc.

Pass(wurds) repped HARD

Supernat was a huge faggot in the crowd. He would not react to a single thing Diz said. Smack entourages are the fucking worst for that kinda shit though. Not sure I've ever seen a Smack entourage member react appropriately to lines.
ok..i'll ask..what is the appropriate reaction?
All I'm getting at is that it's real common for Smack rappers to have 10 of their dudes behind them who will be completely emotionless, reactionless to any line their opponent says, regardless of how dope it is. They will then overreact and go crazy over a "Tom Cruise mom's shoes" line, as long as it's their dude said it. Canibus's dudes were guilty of this. I can understand supporting your guy (nh), but it just looks stupid and unrealistic when it's so black and white like that. I've seen many a dude get bodied (nh) while his entourage was acting like he was killing shit. Shit is embarrasing, yo.

But to answer your question, THIS is the appropriate reaction.

diz is the homie and i have a bunch of other homies in that scene but if this is the highlight of the accapella battle year it has as much to say about the form as it does about canibus.

So, I interviewed Organik, the guy who set up the Canibus-Dizaster battle and was at the center when it went down. If you've ever wondered what it was like to deal with Canibus on a professional level... - http://blogs.laweekly.com/westcoastsoun ... he_dot.php

Did you think Canibus' performance was going to become such an Internet meme?

I knew the second it happened that I wasn't going to check the Internet for days. Even as it was happening, I got 40 text messages throughout that third round from people asking me to cut him off.
