Beach Boys sample beat

Tried to not sound like I was biting Bullion's shit from the "Key of Dee", haha.

really dope beat. Drums are a little dry, but overall it's really good. Nicely done.

or just not anything...just sounds stock. Couple lil tricks you can do is double up the snare with even a different snare every other hit or so, add a lil reverb, a lil distortion or just EQ em till they sound nice n punchy. Same goes for kick. Putting an accent on alternating hi hats can give a nice, more "real" effect too.

How about this one, particularly reverb-wise? The drums are looped instead of chopped, though.

I find the first beat pretty boring, and I think a lot of it has to do with the drums. I think it's more than them being dry. They drain something from what would otherwise sound like a dreamy, ambient track because the sample and the changes are great.

I like the 2nd beat a lot more, although you could vary the drums a little, even if it's just the occasional fill or drop. But the vibe is very cool.
