Re: Current best indie rap producers?
what kind of beats are you looking for?
not for nothing, but aren't there tons of la people involved in the low end theory scene that you could hit up? that song with ras g was dope for example, more with him could be awesome

LUM aka Shawn Kemp is really killing it with the beats right now. The tape he produced for Supa a few weeks ago was fresh as fuck on the instrumentals department. The rapping was ok.

Also, try Eric Lau , Dabrye, or Paul White.
I know you know Hezekiah, Mic. That dude always has beats.
Or you get up with IMAKEMADBEATS.
Oddisee is going on tour so it might be a minute.

Oh I forgot that I did speak to Hez. He has some heaters, but nothing that fits exactly so we're gonna get together in the lab and make something custom.

Re: Current best indie rap producers?
Is it just because we're keeping the list within the context of people who might to beats for Icon, or do El-P and Aesop Rock not count as indie anymore?

If you think about Clams Casino sound, that kind works."Are you interested in working with vocalists? Your music seems naturally built for rapping. That’s something that I’m immediately interested in, and it’s something I’ve talked to with the label. A lot of the tracks I’ve released are very sparse because I’ve made them with a vocalist in mind. At the start there are always a cappellas—that’s why I was using the Tyga a cappella in the first place. So yes, long term, working with rappers is what I’d like to be doing."
