This will show my age..but i traded a friend Project Pat's "Ghetty Green" for that ATCQ...you would think a young 7th grader wouldnt understand Tribe esp after owning that Pat but I loved the album, even hearing it as late as I did.

WORD! I bought both of those albums on CD brand new that morning 19 years ago and instantly fell in love with both. I listened to them over and over and over... haha Shit, I was 19 years old at that time.

I always felt MM was the end of something and 36 Chambers the beginning of something else. Two dope albums. I prefer 36 Chambers though.

Both albums are in my personal list of top 10 rippity rap albums. I think I bought MM right when it came out, but I was a little late on the WU phenomenon. I think MM has aged better and is probably the better album. It always seemed to me like 36 chambers, while completely fucking raw and amazing, was introducing the Clan and setting the stage for everybody's solo debut. MM was an important album to me; I used to fall asleep to it all the time (I realize that isn't necessarily a great compliment) when I was 18-19 and struggling with bad insomnia. That shit became the soundtrack to my dreams. I've never been one for lyrics in any kind of music, but I can rap along with both these albums start to finish, as I imagine all of us can.

I like it, have listened to it plenty of times, but I associate the album with men who wear half-tinted sunglasses and bracelets that are always talking about their German cars. Which is one thing that sets this album apart from other Tribe albums: it's definitely a driving album. Low End Theory was more about the subway commute.

Also, Phife Dawg can't rap and Midnight Marauders proved that for anyone with discerning ears.

^ agreed. MM is my third favorite Tribe album. A great album but I definitely prefer the two that came before it.
Also, huge Cosign on the Phife point. People acting like he all of a sudden got great on LET , when all that happened was that he went from not very good to passably good.

The tracks on their own are all dope but I find Low End Theory gets pretty samey and is a bit boring as a complete listen. MM has more variety and is more interesting imo.

36 Chambers is still a unique record and cant be fucked with.

i still never got into Low End Theory or the first record. just didnt hit me like Midnight Marauders did..i have no idea what order i heard them in. i still dont think i ever heard The Love Movement and that dropped during my favorite year of hiphop(that i was active in).

I thought he was at his peak on MM.

Keep in mind, nobody's saying he's Rakim here, but his contribution to MM was important and felt by many.
