Ultra Light Beams was nice, and Chance did his thing, but I never need to hear that song again. I've seen people on SM sweating that song so hard and how it's so artistic and this and that. To me it is over ambitious and just fails aside from Chance's verse.

It reminds me of Dark Fantasy, in that it has some great elements. But there are so many starts and stops, and the song really never goes anywhere. It's not a song you'd want to subject yourself to repeatedly.
see that's one that i can't stop listening to. to each his own.

Standouts for me are:
Famous
Ultra Light Beams
Feeback
Real Friends
No More Parties

Buddy of mine remarked the other day at how amazing it is how many people who aren't Future are on this album. Dude literally has 5 clones on and poppin, and they're all here.

He's signed to good. Future was there too
Man why not use the real thing then. The clone doesn't have enough bass in his voice.

Frankly I miss when Kanye was messing with GLC, Common, John Legend, Conseqence and them dudes. GOOD Music 1.0. The talent he surrounds himself with the last 5-7 years is laughable

In terms of some of the guest vocalists (Cudi, Thugga, Post Malone) I tend to agree, but even then he manages to make them sound their best.

On the other hand, in terms of the musicians and producers he's surrounded himself with recently (Arca, Rick motherfucking Rubin, Madlib, Mike Dean, etc.), his list of recent collaborators is basically a who's who of musical innovation.

So, I actually just sat and listened to Desiigner's panda song and, I gotta say...when he finally gets to the verse he fucking kills that shit. Did not see that coming.

I don't understand how so many of you haven't heard Panda before this. I rarely ever listen to Hot 97, maybe twice a week, for 5 minutes each time, but that shit is ALWAYS on. I just assumed it was everywhere.

What's crazy is I also assumed he was saying Panther.

Hell when Kanye said he signed Designer at the album premiere, I thought he meant he signed a fashion designer.

I definitely never heard of the guy before two weeks ago.

I never hear the radio and I'm not up in the clubs so it came outta nowhere to me. The first thing I saw was him rapping it awkwardly live in a studio, dabbing a lot like a dickhead...but, like i said, his verse on that shit is crazy.

I listened to the album once, and my two initial opinions were:

1: these sounds like demos of songs that could potentially be good.
2: Kanye is the weakest link on most tracks.

and one of the biggest impressions I took away was that he's more of a curator now. It's not really an album of his, he's like a more artistic DJ Khaled at this point. Just putting together a team of people and putting them in a position to make good songs for him, at least better songs that they'd probably be able to make without his guidance.

^closer to dre imo. but my only real disagreement with u is that most of the interesting verses on here are by ye. on a couple tracks, he really has some shit to say. his personality resonates.
