to me, the appeal of smt is very much in the 'sum total', not just in him as a rapper. he's good, no question, but it's the combination of him AND Paper Platoon's production and the weird arrangements of the songs and how it all adds up on #SS is what really makes the final product as good as it is. i'm not sure taking him out of that contained environment would work to his advantage; he doesn't seem like the type of dude that can just rap on anything and make it sound dope, especially considering how processed and warped his music is. he wouldn't necessarily sound bad on another producer's beat, but they would need to create a really strong dynamic to match what he's doing now.

agreed about the sum total. i dig the music, but i also dig the persona they've built up, as well as the whole mystery surrounding the cew. that in addition to the dope visuals as well and its a cool full package.

i just asked about SMT and LUM working together as a means to help bridge the LUM connection in the thread to something concrete, so we weren't all just going back and forth on who likes what more
