It's not that good of an album or mixtape or whatever it's being marketed as. Let's please not go to such painstaking lengths to validate Tracklist Revisionism as a new form of Artist Saving.

I just bumped it all the way through twice and I think it's awesome. It definitely gets better as it goes but there are really only like 2 or 3 songs I don't fuck with. The production is awesome and he actually raps more on this than any other album, which I like a lot.

i dont think anyone is experiencing tracklist revisionism tho, i was just noting that the sequencing was off initially on the datpiff version, and i was already about 50% through a listen by the time they realized the error.

tape is still solid, regardless. maybe not on the level of the first two, but not a dud by any means either

Fantano gave it a 2/10 and I've never see someone miss the boat more than him and his take on SMT in general. I mean...i don't always agree with the guy often but wow.

2/10 is a bit harsh; more like 4.5/10. Uneven and underwhelming. One of his strong suits is utilizing production to its maximum and he is not doing that on this newest album. It's almost meandering in a way.

Fantano didn't like the older shit either and all he seemed to harp on was how he's a gimmick and his lyrics have no point. Shit was wild

I stand by this new one being good (not as good as the previous two but not a huge drop off either) and the beats being awesome though.

I can't put a finger on why exactly, but Rosenberg's involvement rubs me the wrong way. Not sure if it's just a kneejerk 'keep mainstream away from my weird shit' instinct or if there's some kind of legit concern to have here (probably former.) I guess we'll see what comes out it, if anything at all. It's nice to see SMT getting mentions in outlets that didn't fuck with him before because of better industry connections, but will he really gain that much from being more visible to JCole fans or whatever? He's not exactly scalable.

Paul or Peter? Either way I don't think there's too broad of an audience for this kind of thing so I wouldn't worry

i decided to go back to it today to re-visit it after hearing the new song. im working while i listen so it kinda just goes in one ear and out the other, but the joints that bump, still bump heartily. i maintain the sentiment that if he had made the new tape like, 10 tracks it would be fire front to back

i think it came out around the same time the aesop rock album did, and even tho im a big spark fan, i got stuck on that aesop pretty heavy
