i didn't claim i was but you're probably not judging by your criticisms. i haven't picked up a mic or written a verse in years, but i would never give out advice like you did

do you know how dumb "more complex rhyme schemes" is as a suggestion? do you honestly believe because you have mad syllables rhyming at the ends of your bars that your verse is actually better than if you went a simpler, clearer, more intelligible and more focused on cadence/delivery approach than to just fit as many polysyllabic rhymes in as possible?

this is the reason there are too many rappers out there. they all think they're better than krs-one because they have "more complex rhyme schemes"

Obviously I mean while staying intelligible & clear... n obviously it's more than possible to do both. All I meant by "more complex rhyme schemes" is that keep that same level of content while tweaking the flow. Now, if he was already writing it to a beat and his shit rides the beat then I have no criticism to give really... then I'd just have to hear the song. And if that's just his style then I'd still like to hear a song so I know how his shit's spit...

Since CTR is seeing a respectable amount of posters/pieces the last month and lot of submitted stuff is actually spoken word/poetry rather than "rap", I`m wondering how many of you are willing to participate in the 2nd Poetry Theme Slam.Now the last time I did this was by sending PMs to people who I thought could contribute to this tourney.That meant contestant and judges and we ended up with a bunch of dope witters and judges who knew what quality poetry was and knew how to properly review it .The tourney went great up to the point were we all got fucked in the ass by Hopeless who didnt show up in the finals.

So if anybody is interested (not by getting fucked in the ass by Hopeless, you can PM him about that) please put your name in this thread and we`ll try to make something out of this place.

The rules will be the same as they were the last time, but if anybody has any suggestions please don`t hesitate and tell me what should be done to make this tourney better.

Writers will have a choice to pick one of five given themes to write about. Each judge will then award a poem with a numeric score from one to ten. The two highest scored poets will be going to the final.Just to give you a picture of what I`m talking about, the themes for the 1st round in last tourney were

1)Strees
2)Time
3)Death
4)Nostalgia
5)Destruction
