Obvious choices, might catch some hate here, but all the popular Gorillaz joints bang:

thought if I could choose, it would be better that this album never happened. maybe we could have avoided nu metal that way.

Re: Your Favorite Cross-Genre Collabos
- unless these are hip hop tracks featuring non-hip hop artists, as opposed to vice versa. still good anyway.
Re: Your Favorite Cross-Genre Collabos
of course, right now it's all about Gucci Mane and Marilyn Manson
better than what he did with DMX
(i have the CD this song is on ($1 on ebay!), i should up the CDQ.)
In "Judgment Night" world, this track by Fishbone featuring Busta Rhymes is decent.
Busta's verse is great.
probably the most ambitious R&B cross-genre release
versus
Adam F and M.O.P wasn't really good, either
versus
bad choices
the whole idea of Cypress Hill and Rusko was a bad idea. or "Rock Superstar" for that matter.
this would have been better if they kept the original mix for GZA's verse
Honorable mention to Beck's "Odelay".
and Dee Dee Ramone should have stuck to rapping.

Although top of my head there's some lousy ones on there as well.
I would never think of Sommersault (a song I love) as cross-genre. It's just a hip-hop Doom made with folks that don't normally make hip-hop.

Re: Your Favorite Cross-Genre Collabos
Am I the only one who thinks the Judgement night soundtrack was fucking terrible? Outside of the de la song, I recall it being the the worst. People actually liked that shit? Or is this just a case of a guy who isn't crazy about that type of rock just not liking that type of rock?
Re: Your Favorite Cross-Genre Collabos
i liked the Helmet/House Of Pain, Onyx/Biohazard, Dinosaur Jr./Del tracks when I used to listen to it. I thought the De La song was one of the worst on there.
Boo-Ya Tribe with Mike Patton for creative honorable mention, though.

the judgement night soundtrack is great. maybe you just don't really like 90s rock? it's mostly great bands & the songs hit more than miss
del & dinosaur jr. prob my fave

Re: Your Favorite Cross-Genre Collabos
the ice-t slayer song is also classic
Re: Your Favorite Cross-Genre Collabos
Yeah. I definitely never got into 90's rock at all...so when that came out I was pretty much like "fuuuuuuck this shit". I posed the original question cause I never realized it was viewed as a success. Most people I've come across felt similarly to me. Guess I was in the bubble.ackbar wrote:the judgement night soundtrack is great. maybe you just don't really like 90s rock? it's mostly great bands & the songs hit more than miss

Re: Your Favorite Cross-Genre Collabos
it has some cool songs but there's a lot of overkill rose-tinted nostalgia about this OST among 90s babies. i honestly doubt most people who praise this strongly have listened to more than 3-4 of their favorite tracks from it in the last 15 years.Blockhead wrote:Am I the only one who thinks the Judgement night soundtrack was fucking terrible? Re: Your Favorite Cross-Genre Collabos
^there's so many different versions of "Iron Man" with different
sequencing/beats/mixdowns/instruments/vocal takes (wonder why they called him Mix-A-Lot)
but the above version ("Urban Street Mix") is probably my favorite.
A ("Video Version"), B ("LP version"), C ("True Metal Meltdown Mix")
