Ned Ryerson wrote::bow: x 10000. great, great read. thank you. that scene from Runaway Train is great, gonna have to check that. Plot sounds kinda like Snowpiercer

willie green put out a 3 song EP today with billy, elucid. billy's song basically rewords what he said in the interview:
On another front, if I ever have a son I am going to make sure he understands that Big Gipp line from “Thought Process” on Soul Food: “Got me on the curb letting traffic pass me by/ No questions, I said nothing/ Looking for the mutant to be buckin the law/ Naw man Gipp show him my shit, close my mouth then I dip/ See to me G is a person who understands the plan/ CAN’T MAKE NO MOVES WHEN YOU IN THE HANDS OF THE MAN.”

That shit is real. Once the cops is rolling on you like that you need to just be worried about not saying anything incriminating and establishing your refusal to consent to their searches or whatever verbally, while remaining fully compliant because they are going to fuck you either which way. It’s just reality. Same way when you in a hood you don’t know and folks roll on you talking about, “Give it up,” you probably should, because either way they taking it. The only question is what sort of injuries you may or may not have afterwards. Or if you will be dead.

Oh wow. Thanks.

FYI, not sure if you realize, but there's a link to that Runaway Scene train in the interview (not the post above but the actual feature), as well as a bunch of other little easter eggs linked throughout.

Another great woods verse shows up on this free EP from L'Orange (him and Meyhem Lauren appear on a track)- http://mellomusicgroup.bandcamp.com/alb ... flowers-ep" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The whole thing is great really though, first I've heard of Red Pill, but he has a standout appearance. L'Orange is definitely a producer to keep an eye on.

Also if you're in the Brooklyn area come out to see Armand Hammer, Serengeti, and Open Mike at Grasslands tonight. I'm lucky enough to be visiting family in Jersey this week and will be in attendance. I'll be wearing my Colts hat, holla :phila:

That whole project sounds good. I like L'Orange a lot.

I went back to Bird Eats Snake recently, and now I'm stuck on it. Took me a while to totally catch up to how good Elucid is, but the A&H stuff sold me. There's no one else I enjoy listening to as much right now.

Yeah L'Orange is my favorite producer right now on the strength of his 2014 output. The LP from earlier this year is an AOTY contender IMO.

Dude, I knew you were there because rappers kept shouting out John Bugbee but I didn't approach you.
...Probably would have had I seen this post though. Til next time.

Funny, I had tweeted a couple weeks back I'd be there and woods was like "oh word?", but I never expected him to shout me out at the end of the set. I've seen Geti several times and he always thinks my name is Rob because I used to write for Thought On Tracks and that twitter handle belongs to my man Rob who started the blog, but I saw him before the show and requested his first couple songs and then he shouts out "Rob from Indy" during his set.

Pretty surreal to have your favorite artists calling you as a fan out on stage, might even stop back through Brooklyn on the way out of town to burn one with woods. When you add in a surprise comedy show from Hannibal Buress (who also rapped his verse on "Advice Raps"), it will be a show that will be hard to top in my life.

Cool interview - couple of awesome announcements in there:

billy woods' new album is called Today I Wrote Nothing and is scheduled to drop in March.
Elucid's solo album is called Save Yourself and might be out this September.

Just discovered these guys. Found Race Music on a blog, and just kinda let it play (even though I wasn't expecting it to be good) but now it's one of my most played albums this summer.

video's great, Earl tweeted today that he ran it back 5 times. First time I've seen him acknowledge Armand Hammer or billy woods, but I've been clamoring for a woods/sweatshirt collab every since billy dropped the line "Bridged the gap between Marachera and sweatshirt"

Just bought this. Like it a lot. New Armand Hammer too I see, but they're doing a Roc Marciano style release except with vinyl only initially. Irritating.

DESCRIPTION
A distillate, by it’s very nature, is purified, clearer than that which is left in it’s wake. When we talk of finding the heart of something, what to make of the rest, of everything that is flayed away searching for an imagined greater truth. Then comes Victor Frankenstein in the boneyard, with a Tesla coil and a wooden wagon with a creaky wheel. Looking for freshly turned earth. Chances are they’re only a few feet deep, it’s cheap work, and they get lazy, same as anyone. The spade sinks right in, the ground is soft. It’s been a wet spell. The townspeople will be raging soon, but tonight, they sleep.

Just got the vinyl last night and already listened to it 4 times. Great album and pretty sweet to be able to listen to a vinyl only release knowing no one else is able to hear. Production more abrasive than some of their more recent material and I dig it. Hard to compare it to past works at this point, but everything these two make is quality.

Alchemist tweeted out a link to this yesterday, hopefully woods and ELUCID can get an invite out to ALC's studio and make some magic with some of his frequent collaborators (ie Earl). Backwoodz rise has been completely organic and it's awesome to see them finally getting (some of) the attention they deserve.
