Haven't really kept up with this series, but always great to jump back into it. Cheers, great work.

I'm feeling these beats, man. Was just thinking the other day of putting some visuals to some unreleased tracks I have as well.

also, this is dropping tomorrow
Cryptic One wrote:This "best of Cryptic One" compilation is dropping tomorrow for free on my Bandcamp page. As a bonus to downloaders I'm including a PDF booklet containing back stories to all the tracks included

I never wanted to do a "best of" release in the past, it always felt a bit narcissistic, but after some discussion with a friend, I realized that the amount of music I've released in the past 20+ years can be intimidating to people that are just coming across my catalog. So this is essentially a Cryptic 101 with some of the most popular tracks from 1996-2005.
I'll likely drop two more of these this year. One for my pre atoms days before 96. And another for my most recent output of material from 2013 to present.

I have a new EP dropping tomorrow: World According... 2

and dug up some ancient shit... from 1990 when I was in a crew named PTP... this is my verse from a song called Profane Trained Prophets

Cryptic One wrote: I didn't have a mic yet, but I figured out that if you plug the headphones into the mic jack you could record vocals. I was making beats for about year at this point... always love uncovering things like this from a lifetime ago

Lyrics below:

I got the jazz type groove with the bass boom shaking
Why is Robin Givens if she is known for her taking?
For goodness sake and
Rules we tend to break and
Sleepers you're awakened by the bass that's Earth quaking
Raking in the green now I'm on a new scene
Shaking my hand and now no ones being mean
It seems that deception is their plot
They scheme for my greens I call them non stop prop fiends
But here is where the prop fiends stop clean
You only see red this way
You better look on for green
This ain't a prop shop
No need to bust the glock shot
Just take em to the butcher shop and "chop chop chop"
The leaches eat the peaches like pumpkin pie
My beats they keep you fiending and jumping high
I was on the DL now I'm on the UH
Beats far from fragile so you know they won't break
I try not to break beats but sometimes ya have ta
When the beats shatter fix them up for the platter
Fix them fatter than the last kid did
Up to another level
On to the next grid
You know I skid
Right on to the next sector
The Cryptic set wrecker
Wrecks it quick like a Vector
I bet ya a buck or two but I don't gamble
An artist not a vandal involved in no scandals
And I'll wax you like a candle
Or warm you like a flannel... shirt
Cause I do work and like Kirk this fly man'll
Go
Where no man has gone before
Stepping through the new doors
Cause I love to explore and endure
Trail blazing
Blazing new trails
Ride the train of thought to avoid the 3rd rail
Here to rock joints and you know I won't fail
Lyrics get nasty like a plate of entrails
When we come to mic check
I wreck then I collect
I came
I conquered now I jet
